I need the community help, why can't i leave HC and appreciate SC?
Hi all, i've never posted anything and i need your help for a question i can't solve alone.
I play for years at this game and always in league HC cause i love the adrenaline of loose all if i die and try to survive with uncommon and unmeta build. I love esthetic build and i want to play totem crackling lance of desintégration with a lot of totem AOE and cast speed for the beauty. But i am bad at the game and i cant survive a very long time against all type of damages and ennemies, i always die before 90 cause too greedy or not tanky enought. So i dont see a lot of endgame that is sad cause the game is amazing. I want to go to softcore league in order to trade more and got better stuff easely and i would like to play less for going further. But the idea doing my build without the stakes of the hero with one life who must do his way throught the ennemies depress me. May you can give me some advices in order to appreciate softcore and give me an other look than only min max my lovely build. Moreover i dislike the fact than HC is dead after 1 month in league.. Try SSF. If it is challenge that motivates you, maybe that will do the trick while allowing you to properly explore your build idea
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

Just because it's softcore doesn't mean you have to treat death as something expected and normal. If your mindset is that dying is bad and shouldn't happen you get the same rush from narrowly avoiding it even in softcore. Just play softcore like you would hardcore, with the same mindset and playstyle. Do everything you can to avoid dying, and if it happens address the cause and try to prevent another death. It's all about your frame of mind.

" SSF is not for me cause i love the trade and the idea everyone can farm what he wants to sell and buy all stuff the game have to offer. But thanks for your advice. |

" I totaly agree, here is the point. I think you are right and i will try this way. I can test the limit and effectiness of my build that way and see if the HC could have been possible to the end of the content. Moreover reach level 100 and min max a self made and unique build is an accomplishement in itself that could hype me. And i have another ask, do the trade in SC with all item in sell with good supply a nice thing? I think yes cause the game have a lot to offer in order to min max every aspect of the build but i wanted to know if there was a problem about it. |

" That's bs. You don't get the same rush because the worst that can happen in SC is losing all the portals in a boss fight or something. Do you want to compare that with the fear of losing everything on you and having to start over from act 1 if you die? OP should try SC SSF. It's SC hard mode. It gives you a more challenging experience without having to worry about losing everything. |

I'd rather quit than go back to softcore so that's my advice. You might like SSFHC too.

Sounds like you would be better off in SC trade. You are far too sensitive for HC I think.

Well the answer is obvious, - play SC to get that 35 challenges armour set reward.
Play both SC and HC simultaneously, SC for challenges reward and HC for fun. And if you don't like this league armour set wait for next league. | |
" Only if you lack any semblance of self control or imagination. Considering the "rush" is purely psychological it's easy to replicate in other situations given your mind is set for that. Even easier with an RPG since you can on some level RP as your character so that dying is legitimately terrifying. This is why the "horror" genre even works, typically they do not delete your save when you die, the rush and terror is not about losing your progress, it's just actual human fear. If you don't want your character to die in PoE you will fear your character dying and coming close to death will provide you with that adrenaline rush. Most people don't need to force that fear by adding a HC toggle. " I don't trade, but if I understand what you are asking, yes there is a much larger supply of items in SC and you are more likely to be able to trade for the things you want at a more reasonable price. |
