How to fix melee builds

you said yourself that you only play meta builds ... so you are the one probably watching the big streamers and copy them.

congrats on being able to copy and paste a build. you are so skilled

Boneshatter has better progression/less weapon dependancy than other melee skills and good inherent clear. Those are the only real strong points of the skill and the main reason why it's that popular. If you are leaguestarting and care about div/h those two are key factors.
Outside of that it's not that great. The selfdamage hurts your survivability and unless you can get 100% damage uptime you'll have basically zdps against bosses because your trauma stacks fall off everytime you have to kite or the boss moves or is invulnerable.
Good skill but not half as good as all the hype and whining about other skills makes it out to be.

Yup, plenty of melee skills this league that can have screen wide AoE thanks to charms/new jewel. I never had more fun playing Melee.

Melee works. So long as you choose a skill setup that lets you proliferate your damage in an area and not just a tiny space. Because like all builds, if you cant kill stuff fast and stand there a target dummy you gonna get hammered down.

Just what it is with monster density, abilites and all that. Gotta kill stuff before it starts doing things that might hurt you. Good offense is an integral part of survival in PoE - only very rare builds can withstand a true beating. Even white mobs can fast kill most builds if you let them hit.

This has been true for the last 5 years or more in poe, never changed true as always. In fact one of my favorite styles of relaxation is some chunky melee with a strong defense and decent aoe and dmg. Just the most relaxing.
