And it's been a thing since before even Harvest lifeforce was itemized. You can sacrifice up to half a stack of divination cards for 1.5k yellow lifeforce and get 0 to up to 2x the amount back.

Since pretty much ancient times of PoE. People always liked to gamble, be it cards, identifying jewels, opening boxs, you name it.

Because you cannot dupe actual mirror, only cards. Thats why each card will be worth way more than 1/9th of the mirror.

People use mirror shard for that. No one uses cards for that.

Oh you'd be surprised how many people risk losing the cards in the Harvest "stack" craft.

Unrequited Love is always a better store of value when you can't afford a mirror. House of Mirror cards are just so rare and iconic that streamers doing gambles always exhaust the supply. Since they don't care if they win or lose the gamble there's no thought put to the cost.
