General's Cry: Losing a support gem, though gaining some passives.

Wait until the patch comes out. With the spare passives it's hard to say where we'll land at this stage.
I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.
With a very minmaxed bf/gc build you would reach around 500 mil dps eventually while being pretty squishy, these huge nerfs are not needed at all.
Isn't it obvious, that the CtA was designed for battlemages cry strength stackers and they didnt even think about any other warcry users?
GGG remove ancestral totem buffs and buff base gems instead. It is annoying to have to press:

4 warcries, totem, berserk, banner, bloodrage, focus, curse to cast a slam

result: 1/5th of normal build damage and 1/4th of POB dps for slam build in real scenario.

It would look like that's the case. Most warcry builds don't slot the cry into their main damage setup, so the requirement of an additional gem wouldn't result in the loss of support and subsequent 30 ish % loss in dps.

Funny thing is though, STR stackers have like triple the GC BF builds' dps ceiling. With the changes, they'll have that and much better EHP too.

I'm thinking my next build will be a STR stacker.

My current PoB sits at 430 mill Pinnacle dps and roughly 110k EHP. 79/79/79/75, Full suppress. 120k armor. Instant leech. Stun, ailment & curse immune. I can run wave 30 deathless and easily run 100% deli. Some would argue it's squishy vs something like a juggernaut, but I don't think it's squishy. Without mirror's worth of gear though, it's squish.

I'm thinking about running this build next league because I want to do some type of str stacker. Can I ask what is the start up cost of this build at the beginning of a league on a budget? I'm assuming red blade banner is probably the most expensive item to get at league start?

Anyhow it looks to me like this build basically just lost a damage gem link and possibly is a bit clunky to play because of not being able to control timing on the warcry cast. That doesn't seem like to big of a deal from an outsiders perspective I'v seen builds get nerfed way harder before. Yeah you might need to auto cast molten shell or just use the vaal version only.

Anyway if everyone is scared off from melee next league I think this could be a good build to league start because of prices being lower?
Dont get me wrong I will still try to build slammer with 4 warcries + lifetap + cta at the start of the league, but not sure if it worth over playing strength stacker.

Fairly cheap to start -

Brutus lead sprinkler - basically free(1-3c)
Crown of eyes - close to nothing as well and good day1
Ironfortress - kinda expensive if you want it 5-6link super early, but you should deal enough damage with 4link
Redblade banner - kinda expensive, but once you get it, you can drop crown of eyes and roll with battlemages cry
Alberon boots - cheap

I think there may be some confusion here. General's cry is not typically aligned with Strength Stacker builds, nor Armour Stacker builds. Are you thinking about Battlemage Cry?

Having Warcries going off constantly is not an issue because we this is how we generate charges via Mob Mentality with Redblade.

Molten shell will need to be allocated to a different button. I'm sure we can make it work.

General's cry blade flurry builds aren't that expensive on the low end. The damage is there pretty early and it benefits from cheap weapons like Paradoxica. Excellent boss killers and the playstyle is fun due to cyclone. It becomes expensive as soon as you start adding things like spell suppression, chaos res, etc. We will be able to get 90% all res now though.

Strength stacker with 1.5 billion dps and 30k EHP

VS

Armour stacker with 250 million DPS and 500k EHP.

I don't know the prices of each, but I know you could easily, and I've seen a build spend, over 100 mirrors on an Armour stacker.
