Did Bex return to GGG?

No. I am not.
It is very recent and valid context on where your sentiment comes from when you're talking about this "nastiest, cruelest, most relentlessly spiteful" community. Bad apples exist without doubt but you gotta be careful and not generalize.

Yes, I still say overall this game has one of the better communities as far as gaming goes.
Bex was awesome and I hope she's doing well.

My sentiments come from half a decade of watching this "community" go absolutely Death Star-level apeshit over every. SINGLE. thing Grinding Gear does. The company has not made one single balance or system/mechanics change in the last five years that has not been universally - and loudly - decried as RUINING POE FOREVER(!!!) by an inexhaustible army of screeching grognards. Even the things they don't do are decried as RUINING POE FOREVER(!!!)

This company cannot move or act without an instantaneous crush of caterwauling malcontents oozing from every nearby surface, and they cannot not move or act without the same caterwauling malcontents excoriating them for not changing anything, either.

Hell, look at transfigured gems. The transfigured gem system is one of the strongest functional changes Grinding Gear has made to the game in years, unifying a bunch of largely failed disparate systems into a single whole that is easier to access, more flexible, more powerful, and much better positioned for future expansion than any of the three systems it replaced. Transfigured gems are huge, they give Grinding Gear a vast pool of new design space to quickly and effectively create interesting new builds.

The community's response? Nigh-universal condemnation, vitriol, and violent hatred. Because they couldn't combine thresh jewels, helm enchantments, and alt quality gems into singular Frankenstein uberbuilds anymore. Never mind that helmet enchantments were unobtainable for anyone but the uberwealthy elite, alt-quality gems were obnoxious to acquire (seriously, fuck Heist forever) and also priced out of the reach of anyone save the ultrawealthy, and thresh jewels was a largely dead system that had lain abandoned for years - people still freaked all the way out.

Transfigured gems are within the price range of almost everybody in trade leagues, orders of magnitude easier for SSF people to farm up than either alt quality gems or helmet enchantments, and are way better at doing what all those other systems were trying to do in the first place, and yet the only thing The Community can focus on is how their jank overscaled edge-case nonsense got punted to Standard.

It is, as I said, exhausting. Also infuriating. Grinding Gear cannot win, no matter what they do or do not do, and it passed the point of utterly ridiculous years ago now.
Guess some people never played League of Legends before to be saying such things with such confidence.

GGG makes time and time again questionable decisions and all we do is point that out. Loot cull, hated. Them saying how we need to "feel the weight of the exalted orb", justifiably mocked. Loot goblins, hated, except by those who finds them. Archnemesis... Better yet, we ask for something and sometimes we get it, but always with a huge * attached. Harvest itemization is the best example.

Is any of this hatred? https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/m9vq7s/path_of_exile_is_an_abusive_game_perspectives/

Or this?

This maybe?

The hate they get is justified, but "nigh-universal condemnation, vitriol, and violent hatred" by some obvious unhinged outliers? That's the hyperbole.

I'm not an economist by any stretch of the imagination, but I believe "value" in currency is set by those who believe in that value. Most times, it's because of rarity, obviously; however, I always wondered that despite that divine/exalt change if ... only if... people playing the game still placed more value into exalts thereby negating that forced change a few leagues ago?

That would have been the biggest LOL of all time: GGG says divines are more valuable and the community says.. NA brah.. exalts still are !

And.. tbh here, I've played a few leagues after that change and exalts drop only slightly more often than divs and when I say "slightly" it more like next to never at times.

I'm prolly not making much sense here, so hopefully someone can paraphrase my words a little clearer :)

value is set by those that believe it has value. players valued exalts more than divines at a time mainly because of meta crafting costs (IIRC).

ggg changed the meta crafting costs and thus the value of the 2 currencies suddenly flipped. IIRC divines were 12c (tabula rate) and exalts were 150-200c.

last i played exalts were 10-20c while divines were 150-250c.

so yeah the values switched and hurt people badly.

when youre talking about temp leagues, you would not feel anything as this flip barely affects you. you adapt and switch from exalts to divines and everything is fine.

but for the standard player, it hurts real hard. its like working for a country earning USD. saving up a butt ton of money then suddenly for some weird reason USD value drops to 10% of what it used to be. then "biden" came out and said something like "hah! you guys should have diversified your investments..." and chuckled away.

Whatever Bex do, I'll say it isn't our business. Any speculations about ex employee aren't looking good.
Biggest compliments for my crafted items - "bs, they must have been RMT'ed"

I'm disabled, I have rare case of semperduravera, so I can write things that may look rude, but it is because of disability - I'm forced to tell truth using words you may not like.

Do not mourn her. I know in my heart she's gone to a better place.

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
