Why the league mechanic made me quit so early into league

between blight giving me tons of blighted maps and kingsmarch, im not really mapping often lol

should consider league mechanics that are more "in-maps".
I see lots of people complaining about gold grind. While I do agree that the costs should be slightly lower (you can also mix and match workers to make it less demanding) and the gold drops could be upped a tad, I don't agree with the FOMO aspect that people bring into it.

You are not missing out if your town isn't working while you're offline. It might seem that you're missing out but you are not. It's a game, not a necessity.

I just log off whenever, and restart my town when I'm online. I slowly feed gold into it after each map, so I get some extra stuff while I play the actual game.

This right here is the finest definition of "self made problem". Heard many others, streamers too, complain about this, and honestly I think addiction might be the cause. They all act like they are in withdrawal if they don't "profit" in game.

Yep, you're not missing out anything; the town just pause itself when you're out of gold. Nothing else. If you want to run shipping and mapping more, you're just creating yourself the problematic loop of wanting your town to do more and as a result needing more (gold/ressources) to run your town at that cadence. If you play enough keep the pace, good for you; otherwise trying to keep that pace is just a waste of time and effort.

People who think they're missing out on something when they complain they don't have enough gold are just experiencing the same FOMO as the FOMO people playing Farmville type games experience. A while back when Facebook first had this type of games, I remember people loading phones during gatherings at bars or restaurants to play the game on their phone to refresh their stuff right on the timer. It was pretty funny to watch.

The league is nice if you're into this type of stuff. Only the runecrafting bench that's pretty lame. You can't even re-roll the implicits with a Blessed orb. Personally I dislike farmville-like timers based games, I think they're boring and stupid af.

If the league doesn't go core, I can already see people crying all day long on the forum asking GGG to turn the league into a mobile app/game, And GGG should do it. They'd make a bank with p2w microtransactions to lower timers, have better item "drop" rate, etc.

I don't get you guys.

There is nothing wrong with actually critique on the downside of the league mechanic which is that by design it rewards players logging in more frequently.

Sure you don't HAVE to but realistically if the market is tuned to most players actually doing it then this league mechanic is worse than vanilla POE for those that don't. The FOMO is by design and I think that designs like this are problematic.

I haven't played that much this league but have made more currency while at work from my town than from actually actively being logged in and killing mobs. You are missing out if your town isn't running. It was designed to be that way and just because you can choose to not do it does not mean that it does not exist.

The fact that ships can sit idle, that the maps you put in queue can be finished are all incentives to log in and make sure those are active. The game rewards logging in more often. It's textbook..Designed to make players log in. It's quintessential FOMO food.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the league and think its is great for one league. Just because I enjoy it doesn't mean I can't be critical of it. My verdict, good for a league but shouldn't go core.
