The problem is getting bigger - game crashes without error message

I created this thread to point out a widespread problem again. Since I started using Windows 11 or since the new "Settlers" season started, POE has been crashing really frequently. In particular, it mostly crashes when I open interfaces such as the skill tree, inventory, character stats. I have already completely reset my PC and reinstalled the system. My hardware is relatively new, Intel 13900k and RTX4090 with an ASUS motherboard. I have tried various settings and have not yet found a solution. Unfortunately, I don't get an error message when the crashes happen; the game stops and I end up on the desktop. The next attempts to log in get stuck on the loading screen and the game closes again. After a few attempts, it suddenly works again and I can play for a while. Windows 11 could of course also be responsible for such problems, as the current version is not yet fully developed - in my opinion. But other current games really run almost without problems. As a developer, you really have to start looking for the reason. Especially because a lot of people with newer hardware have problems like this. I can also attach some system logs that Windows created when it crashed - but these are due to my language - translated from German to English.

Maybe it will help.

Otherwise, I wish everyone a crash-free time and also hope for optimizations from Microsoft regarding Windows 11.

I'd say the majority of your problem is of these things:

1 - 13th & 14th gen Intel issues (hard to miss on a google search)
2 - bad Nvidia driver (install 552.22 April release)
3 - Steam client issue (uninstall and install standalone to test)
4 - motherboard bios update needed
5 - chipset driver update needed

Saying that you crash with no error leads me to believe it's one of the CPU or GPU issues listed above.
Thanks for your quick reply, I will follow all your steps and see if that leads to a solution.

Hopefully it's an easy fix and not a CPU issue =(
Post back what you find

I actually found a new ASUS BIOS version.
Installation went well so far.

First start of POE: "Failed to decompress" ........I forgot the file name. I hadn't had this error before. Crash of course led to the desktop.

Second start: Crash without error message on the login screen.

Third start: I'm online - let's see how long :)

Edit 5 minutes later -> crashed while zoning / loading screen :(

This issue is happening to numerus amount of ppl after the most recent league release, and from what ive gathered so far that i posted about its a problem that we as users can't fix, but has to come from GGG as it client related

I ran all the trouble shooting i know of or have been able to find so far, and nothing have worked at all :/

You can keep trying to run fixes but i i dont think it will help untill GGG runs a fix frm their side sry :/

My post you can find more fixes to try if you want

13th- and 14th-gen Intel CPU users must update their CPU & BIOS firmware, or get a new PC that does not include these CPUs.

Your crashes are NOT Path of Exile related.
It'd be nice to not hard freeze. Just saying. YES I AM INSANE, ZANA! :>
It is literally in the hands of GGG. Most of us don't have the 13th or 14th gen Intel. There are literally other threads stating that they're having the exact same issue. It's not a consistent crash either. Crashing randomly at startup, in game, in town, everywhere. Sometimes you can play for 30 mins+ but it will still crash. This is happening with frequency since 3.25 release. You may be fine but most of us with issues aren't.

There are some updates out already but intel are supposed to be relasing one mid this month to "fix" the problem

Dose make me wonder how many of the performance issues people have been having in the last year+ have been related to this
It all feeds into it failing, users splurge on high end components which makes them max game settings which directly causes the the intel issue (pushing too much power to the CPU when it boosts)
There is a game developer moving their online servers to AMD based ones because of the issue.
