Need Help - Lag Spikes [MTR log]
I'm also on frontier fiber in SoCal (west LA). Issue started for me on Friday and has not resolved. No matter which server I switch to (Cali, Texas, DC, Japan) same isssue. Ping spikes every 0.5 seconds from 15ms to 400+ creating unplayable jitter and stuttering.
Below is the winMTR to the instance IP I was just connecting to in Path. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX - 0 | 1132 | 1132 | 0 | 0 | 16 | 0 | | XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX - 0 | 1132 | 1132 | 0 | 3 | 55 | 2 | | XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX - 0 | 1133 | 1133 | 4 | 5 | 17 | 6 | | ae2---0.scr06.lsan.ca.frontiernet.net - 0 | 1133 | 1133 | 5 | 10 | 280 | 6 | | ae1---0.cbr05.lsan.ca.frontiernet.net - 1 | 1114 | 1109 | 5 | 11 | 74 | 5 | | No response from host - 100 | 229 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | ae1.3505.edge9.SanJose1.net.lumen.tech - 41 | 440 | 263 | 0 | 72 | 100 | 68 | | SERVERS.COM.edge9.SanJose1.Level3.net - 11 | 817 | 735 | 67 | 77 | 159 | 78 | | No response from host - 100 | 229 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 209.192.248.180 - 12 | 783 | 693 | 65 | 69 | 92 | 77 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Packet loss and significant latency challenges begin when Frontier routes into Lumen and Level3 in San Jose. Not sure if this is because the power outages / heat issues this weekend or some other behind-the-scenes issue, but I've been unable to play any games viably this entire weekend and I intend to swap my service to another provider if this remains by tomorrow. Frontier customer service is degenerate. |

Issue since Friday the 6th, Frontier support is absolutely terrible.

Logged in this morning and ran a dozen maps, ping was as high as 60ms but was fairly steady. I did get a couple maps that ran 2-12ms which is typical. It seems something has improved but still not the same. Anyone else confirm improvement or was I just lucky with server draw?

having an issue with latency where ping is normal but at some point, the latency keeps going as high as 1500 ms. swapping to a different realm will fix the issue for an hour or two but eventually it happens again. i play in california realm and my isp is frontier.

Logged in 5:35pm (PDT) still have a good deal of lag 60ms to 300ms+ about the range when mapping. It has improved a bit, but only a little. Went thru network modes again. Predictive still performed the best for this particular instance.

Worked well most of the day and boom at 5PM PST it went to crap. Roughly 17% packet loss and spikes between 125ms to 3500ms. Completely unplayable.

" This was my exact experience today. Was able to play on Lockstep all day without a VPN. Frontier Southern California. 8-15ms for 2-3 hours while playing today. Then ~5pm hit. Back to consistent lag. Lockstep completely unplayable. Switching to predicted helps a bit, but de-sync happens frequently. The only solution is to use a VPN-- at which point, the game becomes playable. | |
Issue persists. WARP was working fine the past couple days, but tonight even with WARP enabled game was basically unplayable. Other online games (played a couple hrs of Deadlock) are completely fine

Seems to be working good for me as of today. Probably around a dozen instances, all solid.

Since last night the issue has abated for me. I'll keep monitoring but it seems like Frontier and/or Level3 made some adjustments. Pingplotter and winMTR both are showing no major packet loss or latency spikes as of 6:31pm PDT.
