Best Equipment I've ever had - Dmg feels underwhelming - what's a possible Chaos-Reskill?

What do you think they should do with wither?

ideally restore its role but if that is too much work just remove it and buff the base damage to compensate.

I can't actually think of a single good use case for current wither, its either broken, irrelevant or restrictive.

Simplest analogy is if every skill was balanced around 50% shock, suddenly you have to either do huge hits, stack ailment effect or be an elementalist.

awakened void manipulation gives you +1 at level 5, that should be your first awakened gem.

Awakened Controlled Destruction 5 gives unnerve (10% more damage).

Vicious Projectiles is also better than a bunch of your other supports, until you get a buffed up weapon and an empower 4.

You essentially had two links in your 6L that were mildly useless: lifetap and infused channeling. That is easily about 60% less damage right there, potentially 100% if we are talking awakened versions.

So.....just upgrading your gems, even before a lvl 21 essence drain is going to more than double your dps. And then, level 21 essence starts with a bit more than 10% more damage than lvl 20, and continues to scale higher with more levels until probably around 15% more damage when you cap out on cheaper gear....nearly 20% more damage with more expensive corrupted gear.

fixed the gems now. Dmg more than doubled. -.-

I took Lifetap cause I have severe manareg problems on this build, I think that was the initial reason from the beginning.
I will see how it's working out later...
btw how does this transfigured ED gem work? It does oneshot kill me, or something? I had the rare option after lab and didnt know what to do, so I took Contagion -.-

Yeah I'm not that familiar which is why I'm interested. I see the point your making about it making it hard to balance chaos damage.

What was the change they made exactly?

I was using whither on a venom gyre build last league. I found that the wither step skill seemed to have some design flaws which they'd changed at some point for some reason. Particularly relating to elusive.

I ended up getting it off a totem and megalomaniac jewel, which worked pretty well, but also think it's no longer possible with changes to totems.

Unnerve increases spell damage taken, it doesn't affect DoT.

Unfortunately, it can support attacks only.

Just found out that I can scroll through all possible support gems in PoB and see the dmg incr. there.

PoB is generally fine at determining which support provides better damage. But you should not use this website, it historically churns out mediocre builds to promote RMT ad.

You are totally right, my bad....was operating on very little sleep and made some classic mistakes.

No vicious projectiles, and the unnerve I guess only affects the hit part. Legit question though: since modifiers to spell damage increase DoT damage specifically for ED, then shouldn't unnerve also work? Causing the enemy to take increased spell damage which then increases the dot damage taken, or that could be wrong.

But the awakened gems and lvl 21 stuff is all true.

Wiki says it won't, I think it's only direct spell damage modifiers.

Unnerve does not increase damage over time taken, even if the damage is from a spell which applies spell damage modifiers to its damage over time effect.[1]

To my knowledge, it doesn't work on the dot. That one should only count as chaos damage over time, whereas the initial hit is chaos projectile spell damage.

Basically, while spell damage modifiers affect it, it isn't technically spell damage. And since it's not spell damage the monsters are taking, unnerve won't boost it.
I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
^yepyepyep all true, and should have known that. But I'm not a huge fan of DoT so some of the more minute details sometimes escape me.
There is a hit component, so the unnerve should still work on that, just might not be efficient if a large amount of damage is coming from the DOT. I think in the POB about 90% of the damage is DOT.
