I feel cheated

I'm struggling to come up with new goals to keep me playing this game.

i think its a bit of a sad state of affairs.

affliction essentially destroyed vast areas of the item economy the same way perandus did back in the day. values on a lot of stuff never recovered from perandus. eventually the devs turned around and said oh ya, all our uniques are 'trash' and no one cares when they drop, they have no value, we have no chase items and this is a loot hunt game that needs chase items. lets fix that, so they added a bunch of chase items and got the item economy to a really good spot.

...and then destroyed it again with another perandus league :/

oops.

I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I don't want to transpose my feelings on you, but after a while no drop in this game ever feels good. Even removed from its trade value.

For me, the ultra rarity just sucks any fun out. When upgrades take a day or a week of playrime... just feels bad.

It's hard to really explain in detail. But for me it's like every system of mechanic just isn't profitable on its own. I need layers and layers of extra stuff that turns maps into an insane checklist of did I do all my league mechanics, and maybe in 5-10ish maps I will see a div.

It's kind of why I stopped focusing on trade and just playing weird fun builds. The minmax part of the game become to boring and dull.
Why do a lot of the PoE players take the game to heart so much?

Like if they miss out on a money making strat or miss launch their lives are over. They talk about the game like their life is at stake. Its like the people talking about getting early access to the PoE2 beta if spending $10,000 on MTX was enough or not.
PoE1 Dead
PoE2 Dead on Arrival
PoEM ???????
lol just be happy that you have it.

i've played 10 fucking years and never dropped a headhunter. at most a doctor or 2.

i think i've dropped 3-5 shavronnes too. and it makes me remember back when shavs were what? 100 exalts?

now? their value is almost vendor food. i remember not ever dropping shavronnes for the longest time too.

for sure the trade value is low, but i would assure you its still a nice belt to have.

i m mapping so much better with it equipped and for someone who actually owns a mageblood i would say its even better than MB when it comes to mapping.

in fact i would argue its stronger now with it's 60 second duration..

count your blessings.

also, thanks to the price drop i managed to buy my first headhunter in my entire poe career this league. (was thinking of saving up for MB but was low on currency)

at least you dropped one. i still havent dropped a HH or any other chase item. also HH was over 20 div like a month ago when i bought mine so it still has value closer to league start
I too dropped my first HH this league, after 11 years of playing this game. Even tho I don't use it anymore and the value has since dropped from ~60 div to 9 div it's still something I won't forget in a while.
Same as my first and only Mageblood in SSF from a Voidborn Key in Affliction.

Heads up and savour the moment. Trade value isn't everything.
Also it's very fun to use in maps. (except shroudwalker :D)
So you don't want the really cool item to enjoy and play in the game, the fact that you found it is meaningless because you cant sell it?

man this community is in a sorry state...

I think its more sad when long time players misunderstand something a lot of us relate to.

For the longest time, headhunter was the status symbol, and a grail that most players would never see. It shouldn't be hard to understand why one would feel disappointment given how expensive they were when exalts were the mainstay.

I myself remember when I finally managed to chance one that it was fairly underwhelming given the work I had put in chasing it. I'm still chasing a mageblood and maybe a mirror, but I frequently lose interest after a map or two. Chasing the proverbial carrot only goes so far.
Yep, totally over league play.

This is normal. You are experiencing expected behaviour as T0 drops realistically drop for 0 players (when rounding down). You got the most exciting item in the entire though, so I would use it for mapping.

I don't understand what you mean. If T0 items are super rare, they should also be super expensive on trade ?

And it's not like PoE1 has a botting problem, since GGG messes with the drops of players they flag as bots ?

I could see this maybe being an issue in the super-rich Standard leagues, (and where cleanup of bot-derived and bugged items might not have been consistent over the years ?), but you're talking about SoK leagues, aren't you ?

Shame, after how long ?

Also, consider playing Ruthless where even support gem drops feel good (at least until lategame ?) ! (And/or SSF, where this problem of comparing with Trade goes away.)

Speaking of, do SoK Bench leagues really have a guaranteed unique drop for each completed shipping 'quest' ?! (Or is that only specific to the Gauntlet league ?)
Because, talk about completely swamping players under uniques (and them not feeling special at all as a result) - holy hell, I'm getting a magnitude more of uniques from ships than drops !
(Comparatively, in Ruthless it's not only something like 1%-5% chances per shipping 'quest', it feels also a much more balanced compared to unique drops - within the same order of magnitude.)

(Of course playing Ruthless still won't help with the "no upgrades" feeling, PoE1 isn't an infinite game, at some point you reach endgame and progress can only stall.)
