That's a GREAT idea. I'd vote for that, if it mattered in any way. Apply it to PoE 1 as well. I like the Duelist graphics and would make Marauder characters with that model.

If I could use the witch graphics and make a stabby stab melee dagger witch, I'd be very happy. (Mainly because I've never found a good pure melee witch build that isn't some kind of shotgunning effect).

Considering that (Barring Ascendancy Skills) PoE allows characters of any class to use any weapon/skill that they meet the requirements for, your idea is very sensible, and seems easy enough to implement.

no worries, i didnt actually post that in here because to me the topic is more of "dont gender lock" i always advocate for no genderlocking UNLESS its crucial to the character/lore. for example kratos. i DONT WANT him to have an alternate female version unless its just a silly mtx or multiverse thing (still rather not). it really depends on the game genre.

i usually leave the suggestion out because i feel that the conversation should be about "dont genderlock". while the suggestion can come later as part of the solution.

but i d be lying if i dont say that its also part of an elaborate "gotcha" trap. theres a lot of people that for some reason are against giving players gender options. and normally they would whine and say GGG has no money/budget for it. in most cases they'd still try and weasel out some weird excuse why its bad for the lore.

actually there is an issue with my suggestion. as ggg would need to still put work into them for certain skills. such as infernalist demon form and the upcoming beastmaster's transformations. tho i m sure its still "cheaper" to make the transformations than make entirely fledged out alternate gender models.

and yeah, i really would like this "choose your model" option available on std.

i dont like the templar ascendancies but i really would like to actually play as a giraffe if i play poe1 again.

I would have hoped in 2025 we would be past gender locking characters by now.

thats the REAL solution game devs actually went with. you can see this in titan quest, grim dawn, dungeon siege1.

You can NOT see this in Diablo 2, Last epoch, Poe1 and Poe2.

If the rationale for having unlocked genders is truly unrelated to politics, there should be no issue keeping it the way it is.

It can be just another feature the developers decide not to add because they feel like it.
