You need a key earned from PS store based purchase to play on a PS5, period. Cross play is a built in game feature but the ability to download the game at all from each storefront is a from a license granted by Steam or Sony..

Think of it like this: If you could use a Steam-earned key to play on pc AND ps5, what if you had an issue with the game and were opening tickets with Sony support. They would be like “why would we use our time and resources to help you with something you never even paid us for?”. Or the fact that you are now using their data / network resources just to PLAY the game, which does have a cost on their end. And whatever million legal reasons.

A lot of people have been emailing customer support to ask if they meet the threshold. We'd prefer if you could wait until the Early Access begins and see if you're immediately invited, and then contact support if you didn't get an invite but you believe your lifetime support exceeds $480 USD
