Poe2 seems to be way too similar to poe1
Sadly I think devs want poe2 to be itself, but it seems they really changing it into poe1...
I have no skills to write a nice proof and arguments but multiple times i thought so comparing this reveal versus what was shown in exilecon. I swear if they make some maven "Simon says" insta-death minigame, sirus, exarch ball minigame then i wont play poe2. Last bumped on Nov 24, 2024, 9:41:21 AM

I hope poe2 becomes much different from poe1

Yup, everything that was shown in the live could be implemented in PoE1, the 3D tree, the way the mechanics are discovered, the animations, the beautiful textures, the UI...
Yesterday's Live confirmed for me that PoE1 > PoE2 📦

Just to weigh in on this conv.
I thought there was a lot of difference for a game that initially was intended to be an extension to PoE1 and not a new game entirely. They dropped the extension idea they realised poe1 engine was just not good enough to do all the changes they wanted to. Just the actual 3D assets (rather than 2d ones in 3D perspective is huge, the new monsters and skills and how they work, tactic bosses and having to think to kill them, the infinite atlas and those are just a few. This imo is a bigger change from PoE 1 than Destiny 2 was to its predecessor (and they had massive funds to work with from sales that PoE never has) Last edited by Timbo Zero#8289 on Nov 22, 2024, 11:49:49 PM

The "Infinite atlas" Is literally Delve.
The reason why PoE2 looks too much like PoE1 is because GGG pulled all their development off PoE1 for PoE2 and have been using the new content they've been developing for PoE2 as League content for PoE1 for years. PoE2 is just PoE1 with less bloat and no Headhunter/Mageblood. The real question is: Will the two games diverge? The problem GGG has is spending time/money/resources developing content for either game and not putting it in the other. If they make a league for one game, and it is successful; how could they not import it into the other game? And if/when they do this, will it not just feel like a 'repeat league', leaving players feeling robbed of a new league to be excited for? |

" To me it felt like the exact opposite, the Stream made it more obvious than ever that this is just POE 1.5 and not some new standalone game Nothing wrong with it, poe 1 is great, i was expecting more of a difference though | |
" On the other hand, if a poe2 league mechanic is great they can experiment with making it core in the next poe1 league start to experiment and polish for both games. or vice versa. They get to experiment roughly 2x as much. |

What i'm actually more worried about is if they learned how to make something even resembling game balance, but it remains to be seen.

" No it’s not, it’s some of delve concepts applied to the atlas for sure but ‘literally’ literally doesn't mean that. " Make that sound like a bad thing, sounds like a good thing to me. " Agreed and I hope they have different staggered leagues so fans can enjoy in full both games. Guess time will tell. Last edited by Timbo Zero#8289 on Nov 23, 2024, 12:48:28 PM
