Ascension in POE2: using Sanctum menchanic is SUPER BAD?
I've watched the reaction of 13 Twitch streamers over the POE2 reveal, and 12 of them laughing and saying its worse than the current POE1 labyrinth...
Did GGG made a big mistake here? I too personnally wouldn't want to run that, I disliked the league and now you're telling me its *almost* mandatory to do it? Ouch?! /my 2 cents Last bumped on Nov 26, 2024, 4:30:33 PM

I recommend going back and watching the stream again.
There will be THREE trials on release (two in EA). You can fully ascend using just one or mix and match them to your preference. You don't have to use the one using Sanctumlike mechanic. Btw, who did you watch? I have not heard anyone say what you say. |

" Yep, one like Sanctum, one like Ultimatum and a third we don't know of now. Perhaps they keep the Labyrinth as a third option for all those who didn't dislike it. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" In the reveal it mentions 2 different ascension areas/types and once full game comes out there will be 3 total areas all different mechanics to ascend. Dont worry bruh ima start a warrior too and ya probably skip the sanctum area as well. |

I'd try it out before calling it a bad decision, but from what I saw personally, it looks alright

It's an excellent idea and the lab is awful. People are crying about sanctum, but they can always tweak the numbers to make it easier for the first 2 ascensions, and you have other options anyway. Anyone complaining about it never played lab when it was first released (when hardcore was the more popular game mode) and we were waiting till level 50 to do normal or maps to do cruel because it was SO LONG and deadly.

I thought a lot about this as i too dislike sanctum. The more i thought about it, the more i realized that it theoretically is in a better state because it "should be easier" than what we know.
Currently, how sanctum scales right now is that it starts at the difficulty of A10, and then can scale up to ilvl 83/85 with max level tomes that allow you to ridiculously juice the rewards. However, this is being tuned around being A2-10 (in difficulty in poe1 standards) for the first 3 levels, and if it follows the same design/scaling of poe 1, the fourth lab would be balanced around T5-T10 maps, because of the relative power level of Uber lab without running Uber-Uber lab. This makes the content significantly more approachable for more builds and allows you to *mostly* overgear it, similar to how uber lab became easily farmable for nearly every T16/T17 viable build. This is all entirely speculation, but thinking about it like this has allowed me to remain hopeful in its balancing and perhaps i'll actually enjoy it. My biggest annoyances of sanctum in poe1 is straight up walking into a room and immediately being off screened by snipers in certain rooms, or the traps being extremely annoying to deal with on characters that aren't juiced. So hopefully my speculations are correct that dodge rolling and scaling changes will make sanctum feel much more comfortable. |
