Ascension in POE2: using Sanctum menchanic is SUPER BAD?
Sad what.. we don't see anything new, same mechanics we saw already, just retextured.

Good thing Ultimatum also exists as one and most likely ToTA will be the 3rd one. Seems fine to me. Sanctum enjoyers can stay in lab all day.

People cry about sanctum because of how Sanctum works in PoE 1. With how different the game works in PoE 2, I don't see any problem with Sanctum. I fail the run ? Time to learn from my mistakes and maybe upgrade some of my gears to make the next run easier. All the complain and concerns are valid because Sanctum in PoE 1 is really really bad since it favors build that does not require you to do damage in 1m range.

We will have to wait and see how it is balanced. As you know poe1 sanctum is not for every build but in poe2 every character should be able to do ascendancy so they can't just say "look this archetype is not good for sanctum".

It depends on how it will feel.
Sanctum is OK as 'side content'. It serves as an option for gameplay diversity, where you can make dedicated characters that thrive in running Sanctums. But in a ARPG, where building and progressing a character (gear, passives, skills, balance between offense and defense etc) is the most important part, having 'forced' content that ignores part(s) of that build is in my opinion bad design

It reminds me of an RPG I played once, called "Two Worlds 2". Classical open world RPG, think Skyrim. You spend the whole game building and gearing a character, and when you come to the final boss battle, you have to use dedicated turrets to beat the boss, and EVERY character decision made up to that point serves NO purpose at all; not you build, not your gear, not your decisions - only the dedicated turrets in the boss arena.
Luckily, we have options. And as long as the three options we have are diverse and balanced enough, it's not a problem. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

I wouldn't mind, as long as there's options around it, for it to be hella hard but overall the fastest option, if you make it in one go.

Too be honest it makes sense to me that trials are inherently difficult, considering the power of ascendancies.
That said I'm glad that we're not forced to do Sanctum only. We'll just have to see how hard(and rewarding) it actually is, before deciding if it's a pain in the ass. |
