Genderlock! Why 2 female magic class?? Why not a Male Sorcerer and a Female Witch?

First i need to say that Im a Man and i always play a male character in everygame, because im putting myself in the character, the character that i play is ME. So my Main character is always a male character, some times i have 2, 3, 4 or even 5 main character all of them being a male character.

In PoE 1 I always desired to have a male wizard/sorcerer, and in PoE2 they(GGG) had the opportunity to have a Male Wizard, but instead they decided to have 2 female magic classes, that really pissed me off!!

Why not make the Sorcerer a Male Wizard who manipulates the elements? And the Witch being the Female one? Why they made the 2 magic classes as female?? Why??

We have many legends/mythologies/tales and stories about male wizards, male archers, etc. Why does the gaming industry have this mentality that the magical class is tied to the female gender?

At least give us option(MTX?) to change the gender!

In every game i always play a character that represents me, with me being the character. When a game decide to put genderlock and there is no alternative to being a Male Wizard, then im forced to not play the game.
This happened with Black Desert where all cool magic classes are locked in female gender.

In PoE 1 we are able to use any skill and with a huge build diversity, so i always choose Trickster or Hierophant and try to get as close as possible to the Witch ascendancies(Elementalist or Occultist), but i always struggle to get close to only a portion of the power of a true Elementalist or Occultist ascendancy can have.

In the end i always play a nerfed version of Elementalist and Occultist. Its frustrating!

Now with PoE 2 we have the ascendancies more exclusive, with unique skills and gameplay, in a way that there is no chance to get close to this ascendancy as being from another class. Like: How can a Male class be transformed into a Demon like witch does? Its impossible, because now we have theses skills locked into an ascendancy. How can a Male class have the power of time manipulation like Chronomancer? Impossible... And this happens with all classes/acendancies.

Even the Arcane Surge from Hierophant(MALE class), most close to Wizard archtype in PoE1, is now in the Elementalist (Female Class).

Its really frustrating! Because ill never have a chance to play these classes unless you GGG decide to make at least a GenderSwap MTX!

Maybe we can have the opportunity to change our character gender to an existent character(from other classes), importing all sounds, voices, movements, etc.

Lets assume we have the GenderSwap MTX, when we use this MTX we can select any Character Model to replace our character, importing all movements, voices, sounds from this model selected. Like, if u select the Monk model, you will import the entire model with voices, movements, sounds etc.

Its the cheapest and easiest way to add gender swap in the game.

A lot of players are in the same boat as me!! Im not the only one who is asking for it. Please listen to us!!

And for the ones who dont care about Gender, this topic is not made for you!!

Then you are missing out on some truly incredible game experiences.


As with every one of these topics the first thing you all bring up is how "easy it would be" to implement. This shows you have absolutely zero clue how video games or animation or 3d content creation is actually done, which is okay, but don't pretend you know enough to claim it would be a trivial amount of effort or resources to do.

It's not easy to do.

It NEVER is, unless the game and content pipeline was built from the ground up to accommodate it. Not to mention the extra work that re-voicing all (and possibly re-writing some) of the characters dialog would be, in all of the languages that the game supports.

And what ive complained about is that GGG have the opportunity to have 2 genders in the magic classes, one male and one female, and they decided to have 2 females. The archetype of Wizard fit very well in the Sorcerer class, even some acendancy nodes comes from Hierophant.
We could have Male Sorcerer and Female Witch... but now we have the magic class locked in female gender.

I definitely dont like to play as female character, cause its not me, its someone else. The only way that can make me play a female character is when i want to create this character based in some existent woman from some fantasy/mytho/religion/tale/anime, like Medusa(Ranger), Lilith(Occultist) etc.. But my main character is always a male, and if i dont have the possibility to play as a Male in my favorite archetype whicht is Wizard, i leave the game.

Chris was asked about this directly at an exilecon and he said that they might add it as an MTX but it just never happened.

This would be a really Easy win for GGG to just let us use the character models for male / female on any class that they already have , no extra animations have to be created its all already built just let it happen already.
