[0.2] Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Nerfed to the ground.
" Get reduced manacost on tree and instil. not go too high with skill levels. They add damage, but they add about same amount of manacost, so your damage per manabar stay same if comet is level 24 or 27. In maps you have jewels with 2% mana on kill, on bosses you have temporal rift. Last edited by PaintMaster#2396 on Apr 25, 2025, 5:01:42 PM

Hi everyone!
I wanted to share with you a bit about where I'm at with my chrono. To be honest, I don't consider myself to be a serious gamer. I started in January, mainly on PlayStation. This season, it's complicated my build a bit because it's not easy to place frost walls and frost bombs with the controller. I'm also still new to all the theory, but I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who gives advice here, it's really useful! Here's my current pob: https://poe2db.tw/pob/V31Mi11t0Y I recently managed to kill Xesh in T4 (not easy, but it was done!) and I find that I'm making rapid progress on the mapping now. I get my divines from shops where I spend a lot of time playing, so changing my items isn't too much of a problem. As for my equipment, I don't have a problem paying for it, I've found good ways to earn money with trade, so, I followed a tip I'd read somewhere in connection with this post: go for a breastplate with lots of ES, it's the best option, even if it means missing out on other stats for that piece. I've also got a sceptre with a lot of spirit for extra flexibility on the amulet. I'm still on ingenuity, although as paintmaster explained, it's not great: it gives me around 20% cold damage, 87 mana, 53 elemental resistance and 10 rarity. If I switched to a rare belt, I could swap that 20% cold damage for 60 resistance, which would allow me to reduce the resistance on my rings and put in corruptions with extra damage or a critical damage bonus. But for now, I'll stick with my rings, which have a lot of resistance, because I'm getting ready to test the Midnight Braid Rawhide Belt. For gloves, I can't manage without Nightscale Pauascale Gloves. Too many mana problems. As for the rest, it all depends on the items described above, so I'll do a pass on all of them. But basically, I'm not looking to go above about 60-65%, I've already tried but I think it sucks because I don't have enough mana anyway. On the mana cost balance of comets, I'm at : COC: Total mana 1674, for 417 mana costs, 133k dps per comet, i.e. 532 k per mana bar COF: Total mana 1674, for 158 mana costs, 40k dps per comet or 400 k per mana bar For the gems and the talent tree, I went back to what was explained here earlier, thanks again for that. I just made a few small adjustments to the tree to make it more solid. On Xesh T4 , I died several times at the beginning, so I preferred to increase my resistance, even though it reduced my damage. I boosted ES speed and overall ES, and that really made it easier. Now I can almost be immortal, which makes it easier for me to kill him, and it also gives me more ‘quiet’ phases to prepare the burst setup. I've also added the blink, because as well as helping me survive boss fights with the tree's tankiness, I can move fast and do whatever I need to do for mapping. Two questions now, -If you have any advice on my pob I'm always interested, for example I do not know if my reasoning is good on the calculation of my dps per mana bar of COC / COF and if I should lower my level of comets. -Midnight Braid Rawhide Belt : I don't know if there's a twist that can work with it, but it seems like a great potential source of mana. Has anyone tried it? Also this week I saw two builds chronomancien, I share them with you because I find them interesting. The first is a french MindOverMeta (which was shared by kami-labs a famous french youtubbeur): Magicienne Chrono Tank feu https://maxroll.gg/poe2/planner/4z3b00lj https://www.youtube.com/@MindOverMetaPOE The second is Jungroan who speaks English and whom I don't understand much: Sire of Shards Frostbolt Recoup Chronomancer (WIP) https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/profile/8014472c-cac9-4647-a278-35270e375299/builds/83ffdf28-2dd0-4d59-9110-20ee679346ef https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2440906245 Last edited by karbonate14#6209 on Apr 25, 2025, 3:05:52 PM

Xesht 4 on console is impressive ngl! About ingenuity, this is equal rare belt with same amount of mana and resists, but since rings have cold damage, ingenuity adds some. But i'd rather get good rare belt with more mana and resists, and get for example belts or helmet with int, while it wont be cheap because all your gear is good. ![]() Tree slightly unusual with more investment into recharge start. And this part is kinda weird. ![]() You can grab crit stuff with weapon set 1, and use normal points on those ES passives. Also unless you're on HC, Melding is really bad, it remove around 200 mana, by taking Insightfulness you lose ~400 es, but get that ~200mana back and a bit more int and mana regen. Malice scepter would be nice for around 15% more dps, but getting one with 184+ Spirit is not cheap. Comet levels add about same %damage as manacost, so all that change is amount of comets needed to empty your mana pool, so you need to build less energy to empty your mana on bosses, which is good, but also more expensive. I just realized that specifically on Chronomancer, pushing Comet level on CoC does make sense because it has no downside. While damage per manapool stays same, with higher level Comet you need fewer Comets to empty manapool, so amount of energy you need to build get lower, so you can replace one or even both of energy supports with lets say Inspiration, and maybe Fluke. So at the end, that's decent damage gain. Only because of Temporal Rift, otherwise lower level Comet is better because you can sustain it easier with mana regen/mana flask on non Chrono builds. That belt is good on recoup setup. I tried it myself, it kinda better for mapping, but i already got used to Convalescence and Temporal Rift. On recoup setup wasn't play that careful thinking i could outheal damage :D But that setup wasn't really optimized. Using Scold's Bridle require reaching nearly 100% Life Recoup (with Heavy Buffer passive), otherwise you will lose ES each time you cast because you would get back less ES than you take damage. Also it doesn't work with trigger skills, only those you cast normally, so it won't give that much recoup. And to get above 100% you will need Sacrosanctum with Life Recoup corrupt which is not cheap. Sire of Shard seems very good for frostbolt mapping, as long as you get enough damage. But big downside is no scepter, so no extra spirit. Might get more into recoup setup, since most of the time we just mapping rather than bossing, and build has more than enough damage for map bosses anyway. Hello! Thank you very much, Paintmaster, for your feedback, it really helped me make progress.
I am now able to defeat Xesh on maximum difficulty more easily (but it’s still tough, especially the path with the monsters). Here is the link to my new POB: https://poe2db.tw/pob/5XdiATu8bl. In the previous version, I hadn’t noticed that some fractured items weren’t complete, but that’s now fixed. To optimize my build, I’m switching one of my jewels between the monsters and the boss. For the monsters, I use a jewel with “Recover 2% of maximum Mana on Kill,” and for the boss, I add “+3 to Level of all Comet Skills.” Additionally, I replace my Nightscale gloves with rare gloves during boss fights to avoid a mana regeneration phase. On the monsters, Nightscale gloves remain essential. I also made changes to my belt and scepter. I had to adjust many other elements around them, but everything is now in order, and I got some excellent rings. I also modified my skill tree following your advice. I changed the COC supports and chose “Inspiration” and “Cold Mastery.” Regarding the recoup, I can’t seem to connect it on my side. If someone manages to link our build to recoup, I’d be very interested to see how they do it. About the comet levels: I think adding the three levels of comet with the jewel is a real plus for boss fights. However, for monsters, keeping that jewel would be suicidal, and honestly, I can’t manage to kill the monsters on Xesh’s path in time while carrying that jewel. I will now think about how to further increase my damage. I believe 7k ES is a minimum for my level of play, and it will become increasingly difficult, especially if I don’t find a mirror 😊. Feel free to share any other tips or ideas; I’m all ears! |

" All looks good, but there's one thing, in pob there's no quality on Comet, so add quality if you miss it, that's around 10% more dps |

" Thanx ! this is a real mistake |
