Are 1 or 2 button builds still possible?

Missing simple 1 button build get ride of force combo... IN POE1 your less efficient if you got a 1 button you're not useless...

I share your love for one button builds.

I am having ALOT of fun with Stormweaver Cast on Minion Death Comets.

This is similar to what im doing just without the breach rings and ingenuity.

You can level using whatever until you can get the fireflower solar amulet and a high spirit omen scepter.

Once you have those you can convert to CoMD with comets.
Keep adding more CoMD links as you improve your scepter / get more spirit.
Quality the comet gems for 15% base crit. and the CoMD gems for more energy gain.

Current Gear:

Omen Scepter with 220 spirit - 1 Divine.
Solus Ipse - 1 Divine.
I dropped a unique focus mapping - Threaded light woven focus - so slapped that in for a casual 320% spell damage increase (o_O)
Ghostwrithe - Great ES bump. NO downside because of CI so life is already 1.
Rings / Gloves / Boots / Belt - Get Res capped, Max life (for ghostwrithe conversion) , Max mana, Mana regen, STR DEX and INT attributes for Solus Ipse.

I have a level 5 raging spirits it still works fine the minions have 90 life and take 100 damage so they insta die on ignite. Try get a level 4 if you can though.
(Make sure you not buffing minions with your scepter and no +X to minion skill gems on gear)

Guys are running EB / MOM without CI that could be an option if you want to go that route, i took CI to keep the gear cost down. dont like MOM cause 50% less mana regen and you always draining your mana.

Having no armour, no evasion, no life and no MOM you are heavily reliant on your ES. I specced into faster start of ES recharge and its at 253% currently. It feels pretty good now.

I tried Archmage for a bit but dropped it because of the increased mana cost and 100 spirit requirement. Replaced with an additional comd link and grim feast. My view on this is i'd rather be casting more comets more of the time with high mana regen than less comets that hit harder but need more mana per cast.
Grim feast is just OP.

The 4 x CoMD links are setup as follows: (helm allows you to use duplicate supports) Note these are still 5 links, will upgrade these at some point and add magnified effect and some exposure gems.

1 - Comet - Inspiration - Spell Echo - Impetus (damage)
2 - Comet - Inspiration - Spell Echo - Impetus (damage)
3 - Comet - Spell Cascade - Energy retention - Frost Wall (utility / damage)
4 - Comet - Spell Cascade - Energy retention - Eye of winter (utility / damage)

The auto casting of frostwall and eye of winter is great ( 1 button build :D )
Frost wall creates obstacles for the fireballs to collide with creating more raging spirits.
Eye of winter for critical weakness.
Omen scepter gives Malice for more crit stuff.
Use a chiming staff in weapon slot 2 for sigil of power for boss fights.

So you run around casting fireball, the raging spirits spawn and insta die to mobs, charging the comd links and then they all cast comets, eye of winter and frost wall. It an absolute bloody mess on screen and its GREAT.

Cast your curse and sigil of power for bosses if you need some extra damage.

Crit is easy to pick up on the tree... Crit chance is currently 39.9% for comets with 335 crit bonus damage.

What i really enjoyed was the low gear cost to get this going.
The only requirement is the fireflower solar amulet.
Getting ghostwrithe and CI early helped ALOT.

getting Sapphire gems for increased energy shield, mana on kill, and faster start of recharge, cold pen/damage also helps.

Disclaimer i am no poe expert, like you i love tweaking the builds and mixing it up. There is probably plenty to improve here.

I just spam gas grenades and explosive grenades with my merc, then when I run out of mana or need to reload dodge roll once or twice and do it again. Sometimes I get fancy with flash grenades or oil grenades.

sadly I don't think this will change.

Look up fearless dumbo’s frostferno witch hunter build, all I do is gas grenade, explosive grenade.

I see Seismic Cry + Corrupting Cry with Strength stacking in your future.

With enough + minion levels on gear, Oaksworn and Enfolding dawn you can beat the campaign with skelly archers with zero buttons clicked.

Boring as hell, but if that's what you want : )

Most likely you'd want to click at least offering every now and then, but it's not mandatory.

I have fun with skeleton frost mages that only use movement and direct minions command, but it needs a lot of items with +skills so they have good survivability and damage, so they can strike and freeze before most of monsters hit. I still use eye of winter, frost bomb, and hypothermia, and I swap gems for more dps against bosses, but if I wanted, I could probably only use two buttons. I'm lazy :) but this playstyle wouldn't suit everyone probably

Lots of nice builds but looks like the theme is the same... arguably the most powerful builds will need to have something interact with something (aka combos) otherwise it would be considered too broken compared to other classes.

Probably the most 1-button build is regen centric totem warrior, 2-buttons open up a lot of other builds like spark soc (fire ring + spark go brr) and some monk builds.

That said, POE2 is designed to be challenging with a lot of boss mechanics that you cannot survive without at least rolling or raising a shield so yep no absolute 1-click build exists beyond a certain point.

The only time I reach for the keyboard is flasks and dodge

no need for combos or anithing really, archmage spark or any form of statstacker melee is exactly what you want. basically poe1 but without movemenert skills.
