Hard crashing PC locks up

For now i'm able to play with no issues removing the option for multi thread in the engine. tanked performance but no more hard crashes, i really wanted to play and its been 5 days with no resolution from ggg *i immagine its a hard fix*. will play this way till we get a real fix.
For those with X3D chips, update BIOS and enable "Turbo" mode. This also disables SMT/hyperthreading, which was also a suggested solution.

So far so good, although obviously lost half my threads. No crashes and fast loading times.

Open Nvidia Control Panel Open 3D Settings
Go to App specific settings, choose POE (64 and the other)
At the bottom of the list change the Vulkan/OpenGL thing to DXGI Swapchain
In game, change DX12 to Vulkan

Crashes are gone. No need to mess with SMT or Process Lasso

seems to work. Thanks!!! Also maps load faster then before and frametime is silky-smooth know
Kinda funny how there is no official fix still everyone finds something that works for a while at least lol. I haven't crashed in 10 hours and my fix is at least something new and easy to do: after I launch the game, at the select character screen I just press ctrl + shift + win + b. That's it, just once! The screen flickers for a second and then it never hard crashes on loading anymore. If you want you can give it a try, maybe it helps to figure out why is doing anything or maybe it's just coincidence since it used to crash every 20 minutes. (also playing with SMT on, multithreaded and all of that, dx12, no special settings, ryzen 5600 + rtx 2080 super, win 11 24h2)

Hate to rain on this parade but this still hard locks for me, tried purging the vulkan shader cache in appdata too. FWIW DX11 works (but runs worse) as my basis of evidence that I don't just have corrupt install files or something.

Nobody reported bricked components so I advise you to stop spreading this idea.
I would add the same to people saying that GGG should stop pushing balancing fixes to focus on this issue.

Thats the worry isnt it? Do you want us to wait for damages.

Again cursorTarget#1174 and Pyroga#2822 keep downplaying that POE2 is the only game in recent history that has crashed our PCs in the most reproduceable, consistent, and severe manner.

I'm not downplaying anything. Other games had this as well. This thread reports multiple different kinds of crashes.

What it's not reporting is bricking components.

What it's reporting is emotional responses from individuals that are scared because their computer gets unresponsive and they have to hold down the power button.

That's just the factual information we dispose right now.

GGG is working on it, they're collecting DxDiag, they already posted about the 24h2 Windows version that fixes it for SOME people.

If you're scared, based on your emotional response that it's going to damage your hardware, don't play, it is that simple but don't make links that are not proven as of right now, it is also really simple.
