Hard crashing PC locks up

After this update, it got worse than before. I can't log in... It freezes my computer every time when I see the cogs
just wanted to throw my hat into the ring: game freezes / crashes in loading screens and requires a hard reset.

i'm not playing any longer since i'm afraid this will harm my system/hardware if I have to perform hard resets constantly.

also, i'm appalled by the silence of ggg on this issue.

tried to get a refund from steam after 4h of play but to no avail (classy!), effectively spending ~30€ for nothing, yay.

i'm playing on win11 pro, 24H2, hardware:

gigabyte x870e aorus elite wifi (stock settings except for expo)
ryzen 7 9700x
64GB Kingston Fury DDR5-6000 (Expo enabled)
rtx 4080 super

ps.: my system is new, i installed a ton of other (aaa)-games and play them regularly (via steam, ubisoft connect etc.): none of these games shows any instabilities on my system.

Alright...

I completely uninstalled the game and deleted the leftover POE2 folders in the Steamapps directory and the My Documents/My Games directory. All traces of PoE2 were gone.

I then did a clean reinstall of the latest Nvidia drivers.

Then I reinstalled POE2 this evening, with the most recent patch in included.

I then went into the Windows System > Display > Graphics > Default Graphics Settings and turned OFF "Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling".

I then rebooted the PC to confirm turning that off and just giving my system a clean boot with everything installed.

I then booted up Steam, turned off all the CPU limiting stuff I had on and ran the game at "stock" settings with all 16 CPU cores active for POE2. No Lasso or anything else running.

The game actually launched. Been playing for an hour, intentionally zone-hopping, tabbing in and out of the game to web browser and checking my system temps and whatnot. I was trying to make the game crash by going into random zones and killing some things and jumping into other zone and towns.

So far, no problems. And this is after I couldn't even get past the load screen earlier today.

If I crash, I'll let you know.

EDIT: I'm looking at the POE2 Client.txt log from last gaming session since reinstalling everything and I don't have any more of the collision errors, nor any texture load errors. Those were what lead into all my PC crashes previously.

So I tried this and so far it's working well. I didn't uninstall, though I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. I am still doing the classic CPU Affinity just in case but haven't needed it yet. FPS has dropped from 120 to 110 on average, towns are more noticeably drops but still well above playable. Here's hoping my luck holds but I couldn't login without freezing before and now I'm playing again so I'm hopeful... Oh, some loading screens can hang for a moment but they all have finished even if they don't look like they are working, so give them a moment before you go resetting the PC.

Btw, this setting change I wager will affect other games so you might want to turn it back on when you go to switch games.

Standalone Client
win11 24H2
7700x
32gb 6000 ram
rtx3070
Tried 1 Week anything was posted in reddit and here. my whole pc locked up with 24H2

i gave up and installed 23H2 Windows 11 and since then, no crashes, much smoother gameplay.

tried yesterday all day, 0 crashes. After the Patch today, the CPU Temp is also better.

With 24H2 i couldn´t even play more than 2 hours

I heard, that 23H2 couldn´t help, but for the most of RYZEN Processor User it works 100 %

For those who are having the issue where your PC hard freezes during loading screens, either this tool or the manual workaround (setting the process affinity of PoE) might help: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/

work for me thank !!
After several tries with workarounds i finally tried Vulacan (my bad for not trying earlier). So far 2 days without freeze (only a few hours playtime tho).
Will report back.

Just as a quick headup: tried this manually. As may exiles posted here most of the time this will NOT avoid freezing. This will only make so you can alt+F4 or taskmanager, since not all cores are at 100%. You still lock you game down tho.
fyi

disabled cores 0 and 1 for poe in process lasso and added poe folder and poe appdata folder to windows defender exclusions and 0 freezes \ crashes for 3 days, before it had 1 pc freeze every 2-3 hours

not sure what helped but it helped for sure

imo defender is the case
One thing I have noticed, during the loading screen when the cogs are turning there is a small freeze at about the 1/3 of the total loading time. If my PC gets over this stagger in the loading the level is fine. otherwise it stops at this point where I then need to hard reset.

Are others seeing this as well or is it just my rig?

Yeah its still not fixed. Unchecking 1 core on affinity wont save you either. Like sometimes it will recover sure and sometimes you will be able to close poe, but it can still get you. I give up at this point until GGG actually acknowledges it and fixes it properly.

When is the next D4 season?
