POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

You can checkout Poe2 Uncrasher, which does seem to fix the CPU affinity problem and works on W10, since these hard locks aren't specific to W11 like some posters keep mentioning.

https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher

It basically stopped all of my hard crashes. I know they haven't fixed the bug because Uncrasher basicaly stops me from BSODing once every 10 loading zones or so.

I am glad it worked for you, not for me and some others here have also mentioned it not being perfect. So even that doesn't solve the issue for everything.

This is a GGG problem. But they seem to not want to fix it for whatever reason, too hard to debug, would have to redo the entire code base? I dont know. But apparently enough people keep using and giving them money to not care.

I come back and check every once and a while but ive moved on to other ARPGs and others have earned my money and support than GGG has lately.

Its a shame with how much I used to give but theres a limit. Maybe in another 6 months... maybe not.
Hello guys
maybe a hope for some gamers and its comes from microsoft not our Badly GGG who can't talk with microsoft about his bad code....

Doesnt matter if the uncrasher works for me. My CPU, a brand ne 9800x3d hits fucking 93 to even 99°C!!!! Like WTF GGG.
I have been on a hiatus from POE2 decided to come back and see if some of the issues were fixed but here I am again in this forum and the same thread complaining. As soon as i launch the game i get the grinding gears logo and game causes my computer to blue screen and restart. I know its not the hardware as I been playing 100s of hours on other games as recent as today.

Windows 11 23H2
i7-14700k
4070 TI super

hey guys I was having the game freeze and close almost every 15 minutes... both on windows 11 and linux...

disabling SMT on BIOS solved the issue for me, now I will check if I can disable just for the game... but do try this at least to isolate the problem for you...
I stopped playing back in January due to these issues,
but seen a few posts and gave it a try

9800x3d cpu & fully up to date drivers for 4080 super, most recently windows 11 24h2 update.

Stability and performance seems fine and no issues with temperatures but big spike on loaded screens (upto 80c).

Will keep an eye on it in next few days as I play but seems playable

GGG think there is no problem because this post was inactive for some month
but its just ppl go away and play other games

GGG wake up plz
i just read somthing about crash while playing in party
and all time i crashed was playing in coop

i'm sure at 10000% its code optimisation
but just in case, if some user playing all time solo here :D?

They're not going to fix this. They're going to weather the bad press they get from people who have this issue, wait until they all leave, and then carry on like they don't have a problem.

Absolute garbage company.
I play for more than a thousand hours now, and I still have crash on POE2, post all data for GGG, but no answers.

Mainly it crash either pathofexile.exe, ntdll.dll, driver nv or dx...

what i notice crash occur when a map is complex (with more thaan 2 optionnal encounter or when there is some zone change ....
Here is the solution and I hope thread can be closed :)

Issue is that certain models of SSD disks (those without DRAM) use incorrect size of system memory to cache data via HMB (they use too much). This was triggered by 24H2 update.

It is said that this happens with WD drives, but I had same issue with PNY.

There are two solutions:

1. Update firmware of SSD. Patch was done few months ago.

2. Disable HMB (or set it to 64MB) via registry:

Open REGEDIT.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorPort.
Create a subkey named HmbAllocationPolicy (if it doesn't exist).
Set the DWORD value for this key to 0 (disable HMB) or 2 (64 MB).
Restart your computer.

Issue didnt happen for me again after firmware update. It's been a month.
Hope this helps.
