Constant lag spikes
devs need to look at this. started in act 2, now in act 3 and constant spikes now. seems to really show up if I start using actions, and it seems the only way I can play is with a vpn now. guess I will tell the people in my house to skip this game as GGG servers do not play well with my default ip address.

First days were fine for me but since today (around 7pm cet) it started to lag as the OP described (Frankfurt). I already had this with PoE after the start of a new league and it got better after a view days. But with those lags the game is unplayable.

Same issue here. PoE 1 was the only game I've ever experienced this, but now PoE 2 has it too. Every other Game just runs perfectly fine with <10ms (got a pretty good internet connection).
I'm having the issues since today, yesterday and all the days before have been fine. Tried Steam and Standalone Client, but it makes no difference. Having spikes up to 10 seconds. Using the Frankfurt server and my ISP is Telekom. Last edited by MCPOKev#0779 on Dec 10, 2024, 4:15:36 PM

Same issue, found nothing that would indicate the issue is on my side.
Also found that reloading to checkpoint completly solves the issue until the next loading screen and after its 50/50 if i get the spikes or smooth ride. |

same problem

I get the same but only as of today. It's been fine until today and looking at network logs I sit on around 40ms and every 5 seconds it jumps to 200ms and back again.

I am having this issue as well. Day 1-2 were perfectly fine, no lag at all. Now I am getting spikes from 30 => 10,000+ on both PoE and PoE2.
I have 1GB up/down and I'm not experiencing this issue outside of PoE. Playing from Vietnam using Singapore server, tried HK and Aus and NZ same issues. |

Yeah, this has been a problem since long before EA for PoE 2... we've been suffering with this since SoK.
The pattern appears to be that this affects players mostly in regions with lower total player counts, and only at the peak times for those respective regions. So the only reasonable conclusion to draw is that this is not an issue on the players' end or even at their ISPs, but that the servers GGG are hosting with their provider (Datapacket) don't have enough uplink capacity to serve the regular 24h peak traffic volume. South Africa, Australia, South America, and South East Asia servers appear to get the worst of it. And (wouldn't you know it?) these are the regions where Datapacket have far fewer points of presence in which GGG may operate their service. It's inexcusable that this hasn't been acknowledged yet by GGG, let alone remediated. The network uplink capacities in these regions have to be upgraded, or the service moved entirely to another provider that can offer the quality of service that this game needs to operate smoothly for everyone. Most people simply don't have the option of playing at a time of day when their region isn't overloaded. I've seen a lot of players begging to have the option to use predictive mode again, even. But that won't solve the problem, because when the server is overloaded, it doesn't matter how much prediction the clientside performs - it doesn't have the final say on the game/world state. I'm not going to be purchasing anything more from GGG until this issue gets the attention it deserves. Last edited by antino#2803 on Dec 11, 2024, 10:40:55 AM

This really needs to be addressed. Whatever is going on needs to be fixed. This isn't a "your PC is bad" or "your ISP is bad" issue, this is completely client side.

Same here in EU, constant rubber banding from 25ms to 500ms+ and back again.
Tried multiple different servers: London, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt - all have the same issue. Some things to note: As others have said the first few days were fine. Since Monday it has been egregious, even during off-peak hours. When pausing the game the ping stabilises, as soon as it's unpaused it spikes again. It is not FPS or frametime performance issues, it is network lag from the server. The lag worsens when a hit occurs on a monster. I am playing Volcanic Fissure + Stampede and running around areas without monsters is no problem. As soon as I hit monsters the rubber-banding begins. Please look into this issue, the game is unplayable currently. |
