POE2 keeps freezing my computer

Had about four hangs thus far but don't worry EVERYTHING is fine... apparantly.

There is a lot of videos on the net explaining how to go back to Windows 11 23h2 like this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTIqoY_WqGQ

but this can be tedious as it may require a fresh install! which means you have to backup your files and reinstall everything!
You can also just install Windows 10 and don't care for updates (like the post previous to mine suggested) until Windows 11 is fixed.

a simpler solution is to disable Engine multithreading in game each time we teloport but that also ca become annoying quickly!

that's why I guess the best solution right now (other than reinstalling Windows) is to set the affinity of the CPU:

start POE2
right click on the taskbar then click on task manager
click on the detail icon in the left side
find the executable (on steam its: PathOfExileSteam.exe)
right click on it then click set affinity
uncheck at least one thread
From now on if there is a freeze you can still switch to windows and kill the process

you can also do this with a line command, you will find a lot of videos explaining how to do that too.

The freeze doesn't happen very often but the hard reboot is annoying, we get rid of it with this method.

All is left now is hoping the windows patch comes soon !

I've finally found an easier solution. It's the problem in POE2 taking all the CPU when loading.

The solution involves limiting CPU usage.

There's a tool called: BES — Battle Encoder Shirasé 1.7.9

1. Run the tool
2. Run the POE2
3. Don't log in, because the freeze can happen when those cogwheels appear
4. With the game running, click Target in the app
5. Find Path Of Exile 2
6. Click limit
7. Set CPU to limit to -5%
8. Log in to POE2

With this method I have no freezing and game runs smoothly.
Yep same issue happen to me and now everytime I try to load my character the PC freezes :)
Happens to me too. Hopefully a patch rolls out soon
Same with me
I switched to the Vulcan Renderer in Settings and the freezing hasn't happened again.
Same here as well, several lock ups today.
This hard freeze is also happening to me. It has occurred at both zone loading screens and during gameplay. I did download the BES software as another user recommended on this forum and that seemed to fixed the issue for now. I will continue to use this BES software until windows patches the issue.

Same for me, I tried everything.
-all the settings in the DLSS menu, bilinear, NIS, FSR etc.
- Tried directx12, 11, vulcan.
- Lowered settings to minimum.
- Turned off Nvidia reflex to off, On and On+boost.
- Windows 24h2 and previous version.
- Turned on/off multithreading ingame.
- Tried taskbar, affinity and disabling some cores.
- Turned off steam overlay, turned off Nvidia overlay.
- Tripple-buffering, you name it. Limited FPS etc
- Tried moving it different SSD/NVME drives.

Long story short, nothing worked. It always freezes at random for me, and always on a loading screen.

The funny thing is, I installed it on my ps5 and it froze on that as well.

There is a 27 page thread on the technical section of this forum.
So there are plenty of people suffering from it.

yeah started today after the hotfix for me had 8 hard lockups and nothing helps bar a total reset
