Continuous Stuttering/Lag Despite Stable FPS and Internet in PoE 2 Early Access

Hi all,

Similar issues here... the game became basically unplayable now. Constant lag/stutter spikes with freezes lasting up to 10 sec make it impossible to do maps in End Game. Tried the game on 2 different PCs (Laptop with 4070, Desktop with 4080), tried 2 different wireless networks + connecting desktop via Ethernet cable, fiddled with networking options as suggested in some threads, updated all drivers, bios etc. --> nothing is helping.

As this is the only game with which I am having experiencing something like this I believe it is POE 2 issue (game servers, game bugs etc.) rather than anything on my end.
Same issue. i also have a 4070 which seems to be popping up quite a bit here.

this issue was not present at launch. i played daily for the first week with no stuttering issues.

it's not so bad that it's completely unplayable, but i'm definitely not having fun anymore.
Tired of losing maps, this is happening specially inside breaches with decent juice, my ms goes from stable 15/20 to 10k and everything freezes, this is horrid, can we please have a fix on this? its literally unplayable
Game is unplayable atm. Ryzen 3900 4,2 MHz , rx 7800 nitro+ uv oc, ssd, server latency 30-40ms.
30 fps in town / 50 in game, drops to 5 - 10 in fight. Loading time is veeery long.A few days ago everything was fine.
Constant 2 second lag spikes, video here: https://streamable.com/8mwo57
I'm having this exact same issue to the point where the game pauses itself every 10-20 seconds when the lag spike occurs. No internet issues and I have a high-end PC (RTX 4090 and Ryzen 7800).

The kicker is that I'm actually having the same issue on other games, even AFTER rolling back to 23H2. I've come to the conclusion that this is either Nvidia dragging their feet on a driver update or Microsoft simply breaking Windows multi-threading after recent updates (or both).

Why do these companies decide to release huge buggy software updates right before Christmas? Its asinine. We are basically stuck with this broken driver/software until engineers come back from vacation, and we are the Beta testers now.
Cause...people buy things more before xmas ofc...

So did i and i kinda regret doing it.

First i had fun...then the lags started to annoy me more and more to the point where i often died to them and then also crashes were happening just loading the game.

Disabling most background programs i could at least start the game more stable again, switched to a more far away login spot with worse ms but at least i could play more stable this way.

Then i met the boss at the end of act 2 and stupidly raised my fire resistance instead of checking what dmg he does...all look red so...yeah i was tired and then found out its lightning dmg. As you cant unslot items my best gear was useless. Also adding lag again trying to fight it i decided to...yes take a long long break and dont touch the game anymore until its fixed.

If they dont fix it...well i move on i just had fun with an older Star Trek game where i felt rewarded and enjoying myself rather than being punished and annoyed by playing something.

Sure Diablo also had its lunch issues but it was never this bad and at least...you ad some item drops and it wasnt so much about crafting.
Also...i dont like trading and i wont do it and without it...gosh you have a hard time in this game.

Ofc why is it that most items i found that were legendary werent for my class i played?

But well this isnt about how the game is...its about how annoying this lags and stuttering is when you have to dodge/roll so much to win fights and you cant do this with all those lags.

The game which could be fun is just annoying me due to technical issues so i will show them how i like it with not playing anymore and if they dont fix it sometime soon i probably will never buy from them again.

Ignoring your userbase is....punished by our purse...the only thing that counts for them.

Champions Online did this with a giveaway and ignored 2 weeks of an escalating forum thread by the community about it? Where are they now today? Near no one plays it anymore. A shame for the developer of City of heroes...they removed the good things City of heroes had and made a bad game.

Fun fact...the private and legal servers have more players than their second game...

Well so long i wish you guys luck that they solve this issues i probably will forget to check weekly and this game will just rot away in my library.
Alright guys, might have a temporary solution for Windows users.

NOTE: I won't go into details, but it most certainly will NOT work for everyone, since there seems to be a few different issues related to the stuttering (one involving the networking, by the looks of it).
But this one worked for me.

What you need to do, is to launch the game, then open the Task Manager (Alt+Ctrl+Delete -> Task Manager), select "Details" tab (as shown on screenshot below) and find PathOfExileSteam.exe process. Right click it, select "Set Affinity". And then disable the first core (CPU 0). Then switch back to the game and check if stuttering is gone.
The inconvenient part is that you have to do it every time you start the game. But I hope GGG engineers will figure it out in the next patch.

p.s. sorry for poor image quality.

This did not work for me in the slightest, afaik this is entirely on their side and any form of solution people have posted are likely just a placebo. Hopefully it works for others :(
