Something is messup with the tree... make sure you first choose class/ascendency then make the tree. From what I CAN see, you havent passed over to CI yet, which is a key part of the EB+MoM+CI interaction.

SO, as far as the interplay with Gaze:

Since we are stacking mana, we can to use EB for EVEN MORE Mana. This converts BASE ES into MORE mana. SO because of your huge mana pool and with our insane mana regen, MoM becomes an option to take damage. We also path over to CI for immunity to Chaos damage. Heres where it gets interesting...

Currently, because of EB we have no ES protecting our life (mana)... but Gaze take a % of our mana and gives us ES based on it. This doesnt re-interact with EB, or else it would be an endless loop.

Now we have ES again based on our Mana, and THAT is is affected by GLOBAL modifiers on the passive tree (nodes with non-global modifiers like "+% increased ES from focus do not work, since technically we have ZERO es from our focus).

Now our first defensive layer is ES. If that is depleted MoM triggers and damage is taken from Mana. If you chew through your mana... well then youre dead.

I hope that clears things up.

ETA: Dont forget mana also scales our damage because of Archmage, impact to Arcane Surge via ascendency AND that %spell damage node on passove tree.

I've found I'm (so far) able to map until tier7 pretty ok, but I havent been able to do a breach event on even level 1 waystones lol. I just get swarmed and die haha.

I followed a maxroll spark leveling guide and tried to swap to an endgame build (from same site), but didnt have enough cash and ended up halfway between the two builds!

I can't seem to get enough spirit to have bouth archmage and cast on shock either without completely messing my resistances.


Do you think Ghostwrithe and Midnight braid are worth using on this build, or should i get rid of the armour to find one with spirit to let me have cast on shock as well?

Transitioning to CoS is a whole other build and very expensive. I wouldnt recommend until you have ~200+ish divs minimum to really make it worth doing.

Ghostwraithe? No. With CI our health is 1. Midnight? I can see a use for it while leveling, but its fastly outpaced by a high mana/res belt and eventually, Ingenuity.

Ghostwrithe is awesome! Looks like its effect applies before setting the HP to 1. For example, it gives me almost 3k ES more than my 500 ES chest.

I actually tested it out just after making that post also. Interesting. Regardless, i dont think you can recover from the lack of resists etc.

I've taken your advice and gone into CI.


My energy shield is 1233 and mana is 2450, is this gonna be very squishy and should I be looking to increase both of those asap in my gear?

An unrelated question:

My first greater jewelers orb just dropped, I have two spark gems


1.)20% quality spark- used Vaal orb, but nothing happened to it. (using this atm)

2.)Spark 0% quality- used Vaal and it gave +1 from corruption


Should I use the greater jewelers orb on either of them, or a new spark gem, use a lesser jewellers orb, then the greater and then quality until 20% and then Vaal it?

THis is why you always GCP first. :(

Id probably use the 0% qual one and just get it to 20.
