PoE 2 stutter
![]() Game stutters like crazy after opening a web browser and watching a stream or twitch. Persists after closing. Restarting PC and not opening a stream or video and the game runs buttery smooth. Last edited by fACElol#0909 on Dec 8, 2024, 4:14:42 PM Last bumped on Jan 17, 2025, 7:02:06 AM

Hey,
I have the same problem. One of my close friends gifted early access to play to gether but I can not play. I recorded my gameplay while experiencing the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU-nUSNdm4g |

Oof. I have stutter and have had it all of PoE1 as well. But thankfully its not that bad.
I'm assuming you are also on WiFi. The game doesn't work well on WiFi. All other games seem fine. |

The root cause of the micro-stutter on my PC was MSI's Afterburner software (which is used to monitor your GPU's performance). The fix is to disable the Power monitoring in MSI Afterburner.
See this Reddit thread for further details: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/z3xf5r/msi_afterburner_can_cause_stuttering_in_poe_and/ I also managed to boost my FPS by hiding a lot of the item drops using a loot filter (sorry console players...I know you're stuck on this one). |

Hello,
I am facing an similar issue. In general I have a butter smooth experience - beside some annoying stutters. I am running a 9800X3D with a Nvidia 4070 at 1440p. I haven't installed any performance monitoring software like MSI Afterburner. In addition, it seems like that the response time of CPU and GPU are completly fine. Nevertheless, I see sporadic stutters like that: ![]() Anyone is seeing something similar?? Br, Wunder0 |

This again is, in my opinion, a serverside issue.
On certain maps I believe there's too much for the server to load fast and efficient enough. It's worse on maps like Savannah or Blooming Field, where a lot of micro-stuttering happens as your client needs to load serverside information such as positions of enemies, the environment, items on the ground, etc. Cleaner maps almost never stutter. To armchair this further, it seems as if your CPU is then finally responsible with the client side calculation/placement, causing the stuttering. When even still powerful CPUs such as a 5900x or 9800X3D have this issue, it can't be our rigs. It doesn't matter whether you play on the lowest settings possible or on maxed out specs, the stuttering is the same regardless, which further makes me believe that there isn't anything related to your computer's performance. |

" i can confirm on maps with breeach and delerium i get network stutter in up 6 digits. any other maps i got around 30. having it since yesterday only. 450hr before there was no noticable difference all was like nice good. when i do latency tests, watch a video or play an mmo latency all fine. going back into poe2 i have then latency spikes of 10,000-100,000 on breach and delirium while sitting on around 30 on any other map without breach or delirium. weird that its only since yesterday |

Hi,
here a quick update with some new findings! After switching to Vulcan to shown peaks in the screenshot seems to be gone! Nevertheless, at least for my setup, the overall performance seems to be worse :(. I have much more smaller peaks - but this time, either CPU or GPU is infact aligned with the frame time graph. In addition, my CPU temp went from 50-60°C to 70-75°C. So it feels I can trade a better performance with Frame time peaks vs more consitent - but worse performance :/ Would be interesting if someone can confirm this. |

Hello.
Go into your BIOS settings, and disable ''C-state control'' or ''Advanced C-state'' or likewise. POE is putting your CPU into lower performance C-state (power state) when at lower usage. Disabling C-states fixed this, on my 5700X3D. |

Also make sure to manually move the shader cache to a different directory, because otherwise it will keep being recompiled everytime you play. Even in DX12 or Vulkan.
