MTX being "unavailable" conspiracy

this is actually just pretty standard really.

someone forgot to disable previous microtransactions before launching the game into EA and giving people access.

then they realized and disabled them because they dont feel like troubleshooting skins+mechanics at the same time. while your skin may work, you dont know if its causing issues on the back end, or if any other skins are causing issues. and GGG is currently too busy to figure it out, so they just disabled every skin after the first day. it makes perfect sense and leaves no room for wild conspiracy theories. also support is probably slammed, and they likely have been told not to reply to messages about unsupported features until they reply to all messages about actually supported features.
It was probably a part of huge database, but only a small part was working.
So they shut it down completely for not being harmed.

I already made a previous post about this but it doesn't seem like many people caught on to what might be happening.

As I mentioned before, on the first day of Early Access, I was able to use my Ravager Apparition Portal in PoE 2 Early Access. It looked great with no issues making me believe that a part of the reason why I was able to is possibly because these supporter packs were created in the making of PoE 2 making it cross-compatible. I should have recorded gameplay for proof but I was able to use it.

On the second day, all of a sudden it tells me the portal is now "unavailable."

I have never seen anything like this being done with PoE 1. I did, a very long time ago for some reason have my classic purple portal taken away globally from my account without any explanation but with PoE 2 Early Access it seems really odd.

Either this is some type of bug or someone on the dev team decided it would be better if all of our previously owned mtx usage was held off until we spend some money on mtx in the beginning meanwhile we likely have the ability to use most, if not all of our mtx but they are just gated behind greed. I have no way of proving this but considering what happened in my situation I think something shady is going on.

I emailed support about this 3 days ago but got no response.

If anyone else had a similar issue with their mtx, they should report it so we can gauge if it's happening to other people.


I think they have alot of better things to do right now than import all the older mtx and make them work for us.

Idk about a conspiracy but its very clear that there are 2 key reasons why old cosmetics aren't available: (1) they don't want to devote the time and resources needed to port them over from PoE 1; and (2) they want to rake in some extra cash forcing players to buy the currently available ugly cosmetics that no one would otherwise buy as well as supporter packs. Very simple, if somewhat devious.
They want to sell more Skins for Profit.

why should they make the POE1 Skins available.

Simple thinking >> Money Money Money..
They probably disabled the ones that weren’t super tested after the nakey bloodied fiasco.

If anything not having MTX is costing them money. I’m sure they just had a lot of bugs and crashes so they just have the ones built with the current poe2 client in mind active right now.
After reading everyone's comments, a few seem to lean towards drawing their conclusion about what's happening with Path of Exile 1 MTX.

TL;DR There is no conspiracy, not all MTX is readily available due to technical reasons. December 6 launch is evidence of what required priority.

GGG's Game Director Jonathan Rogers has stated that all PoE1 MTX will be ported over to PoE2 in waves of batches over the coming weeks after the launch of Early Access. This coincides with my personal experience during week 1 of Early Access, as during the first few days, I had no access to any of my cosmetics and portals, and about 5 days later (I started on Dec 7), 1 of several portals became available:

I firmly believe it's both a strategic and technical choice from GGG to maintain a low number of available MTX at launch, for once, they want us to enjoy the new art design in all equipment available since they made emphasis on devoting quality time to make body armour look great on characters (Unique armour specifically), on the other hand, they want to avoid having the same situation that happens during a league launch where everyone and their grandma is wearing MTX and town hubs is a pinata blender of fireworks left and right, thus not wanting this to occur with the game as a tremendous wave of first-time players arrived to the Path of Exile franchise.

If you see any "first time" PoE videos during a leaguestart, every single person always remarks how confusing Lioneye's Watch is as a first-time impression with all the people walking around in their cosmetics, adding more fuel to the already confusing and daunting videogame that Path of Exile is.

Kudos to GGG for allowing us to enjoy the game as it is intended, we get to notice all the details and effort of every artist who works on the models for items & equipment in this game, I'm always trying out body armour and see how it looks whenever I'm playing with a controller as you can look at your character model much closer.

I get the technical reasons, BUT it does not explain why the MTX that makes the helmet invisible is "locked". Because it does not need any graphics work. It simply removes an existing look and allows the default character to be seen. So, there's no big issue there. And that's what makes me wonder.

Oh look, someone with common sense. It's uncommon it seems if you look at all the other responses just blindly giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Let us zoom out more. Bring back 32:9, Heist Alt Quality Gems, Gear Enchanting, Prophecy, Metamorph & Crucible. Stop removing content from the game. Stop nerfing everything. Stop making the game slow
Watch their presentation on Exilecon their art guy talks about this. Basically they misjudged the time it would need and they had to redo alot of MTX because of the new lightning system they are using in-game.
