"You cannot merge two accounts with the same login methods."

I created a POE account and then purchased the "Thaumaturge of the Vaal" supporter pack. The email address I used for my POE account is also the email address that is associated with my Steam account. I redeemed the Steam key, installed the game, launched, tried to login, and got a message saying that I don't have access to the game. I assumed this was because my Steam account and my POE account need to be linked. So, I went back to the POE website, went to Manage Account and under "Secondary Login" -> "Steam", I clicked the CONNECT button. A browser window opened asking me to sign into POE through Steam. I clicked the "Sign In" button and was then redirected back to the POE website where I received the following message:

"YOU CANNOT ADD THIS LOGIN METHOD TO THIS ACCOUNT."
"You cannot merge two accounts with the same login methods."

I'm not sure what this means or even *if* this is something I can fix myself. I emailed support yesterday but judging by posters who say they opened support tickets more than a week ago and still haven't gotten a response, it sounds like this won't be getting resolved any time soon.

While I'm waiting on support to reply, is there anything that I can/should be doing myself to try and resolve this? Thanks for reading!

@Lisa_GGG - you're right! I signed in using Steam and it turns out that I *did* have a very old POE account (with a different email address) that is linked to my Steam account.

And yes, I purchased the "Thaumaturge of the Vaal" supporter pack using my newly created POE account (the one I'm posting from now). So it seems like this is not something that I can resolve on my own and I'll need to wait for a response from support, is that right?

I have the exact same problem and it's been 2 days since I sent support an email. I'm not even sure if I can play on the wrong account or I should refrain from playing.

Yeah, I emailed them on Monday, 12/9 but I see people saying they've been waiting almost 2 weeks without a response so I don't expect to hear anything anytime soon. I downloaded the standalone client just to see if it would let me play using this new POE account and it does. But for fear of "making things worse", I just launched the game, saw that it ran and then quit. Didn't want to create a character or anything because I don't know what support will have to do to fix this and I don't want to end up losing that character.

I have the same issue, no response from my ticket 2 weeks ago, not even an auto reply. Really makes it seem like they never got it.

Im glad to hear im not the only one having this issue tbh. I have two accounts made under the exact same email somehow? I can toggle between the accounts when on the website but when i bought the poe 2 key it made me a new account. Only when you first start the game it wont prompt you to choose between accounts if they are on the same email, it will just pick one and go straight to character creation. Didnt realize I didnt have the premium currency on the main character Ive been playing till almost sinking 50hours in. Really hoping that since they are under the same email i can merge them
