Ascendancy Trials in POE2 make the game completely unbearable and unfun.
couldn't agree with you more, this brand new game is getting old fast.
Having to not only fail any ascendancy attempt, you then need to farm the token that grant you progression, it discourages me from playing any of the trails because of how random outcomes GGG finds enjoyable. |

I am amazed how GGG could come up with such an unfun mechanic. It's like they did put in some effort to make this terrible. What I cannot understand is their need to shoot themselves in the foot.

Going to have to agree here, this has to be the most unfun mechanic in any game I've experienced ever in my life in 3 decades of gaming. The frustration builds up with everything else that's annoying with this game.
My character is pretty Op atm, I progressed onto tier 8 maps. Still it means nothing even though I fly through the trials only to get 1 shot by a bosses single attack, despite having dodged literally every single attack but one. It killed all the fun after this, I don't even want to play the game anymore and haven't since. I don't even get 1 shot on bosses when mapping, why am I getting 1 shot in these? This game just isn't that good/fun to have something like this in it. The more I try to cope and attempt to play the game it's nothing but a timesink I see. No, I do not want to run through the trials a second time or even with another character, no I don't want to find these djinn's to try again. Just No to this entire game and the experience I've had. |

Throwing my 2 cents in here as well, agreeing that the Sanctum mechanic they brought in from the first game is awful. To make matters worse, they locked character progression behind it. And to top it all off, if you fail doing 3rd/4th Ascendancies, you lose the item and have to farm it again, which has a very low drop rate.
Labyrinth was hard, but at least it was do-able. Most people just overleveled to beat it, and even then it was still sometimes difficult. Now, even overleveling Trials, you can still waste hours of your life trying to progress. The devs do not value their player's time and the Trial of Sehkamas is a very good example of that. |

I'll save my verdict for Sunday where they better address ascendancy issue. I have two 85's and have yet to get my 4th set of points on either of them because trial of chaos is near impossible to do with a non-acrobatics evasion build until you giga stack ES and Sanctum is pure RNG on whether the merchant will offer you anything worth it while at the same time affording run bricking afflictions

Ascendancy Trials: this is the worst time I've ever had in POE 1 or POE 2 so far.
I didn't dislike the old system for Classes. Izaro and all that. I had many characters. I don't like POE 2 Ascendancy trials: -Farm for coins to get one chance -Discourages certain Builds like Regeneration, leech, faster shield start, and melee -Losing to affliction feels unfair, winning with boons feels hollow. -Can't get multiple party member's ascendancies in same run. -Ironically named Honour system, that encourages avoiding battle. If these don't change, on release I'm only ever going to level one character, in Standard League. I won't be participating in any Leagues, I won't make any alts. Maybe the game won't last as long for me bc of it, but so be it. I don't want to ever have to do these again. It makes the game feel bad. Straight up not fun. |

I can relate to some of the feedback in the post..
Don't know if it's a matter of taste on gaming mechanics, some people may like.. i hate :( Sanctum is not for me.. Doesn't matter how good the drop from the boss is, the loot form the chests.. I don't have any fun doing it, it's just frustation after frustration.. Afflictions instead of making the run harder (like mods on maps) have a 50/50 chance of making your run miserable, or even BRICK IT completely forcing to restart the trial seeking good boons and regular afflictions... After i get my 4rd ascendanscy i'll never enter again on this Trials.. Last edited by drx#8804 on Jan 13, 2025, 11:16:22 AM
