Dear GGG: You brought over a MASSIVE mistake from PoE1 to PoE2 and it hurts everyone! Resistance?!

Yeah this is a problem but bringing the diablo 3 style resistances is just worse imo.

I'm unfamiliar with how well D3 was scaled. They probably used a shit formula considering what I know about them. Blizzard is notorious for being terrible at balancing games, both OG Blizzard and post Activision Blizzard.

One of the entire reasons to change to a formula is so that re-balancing can be made easier too. It's much easier to tweak a formula value than it is to change the modifier values on everything every time GGG would want to do a balance adjustment. Blizzard probably reverted from using a diminished returns formula in D3 in the first place because they were too stupid, lazy and just plain incompetent to tune it properly.

Armour-style rating - uncapped with diminishing returns.

It worked perfectly well but players bitched about it.

Armour's damage reduction is based on the damage of the enemy hit in PoE so that wouldn't work here.

Forgive me.

PLEASE LISTEN GGG PLEASE .
It could be much simpler I agree but at this point doing such a change from something brought from POE1 as it is would be too much time and cost consuming and I don't think GGG would consider such a good change for players.

While it would be tedious, I don't think it would be some sort of massive undertaking. GGG doing player friendly progression changes in indeed rare though.

Also, would be much easier to do this change early on, because it will take more time to balance that to apply the actual change which is very simple. And for now, balance is a mess anyway, so changing it wouldn't really hurt anything. When everything will be properly balanced though, such change will make it noticeable unbalanced for a while.
resistance should be rating like armor/evasion rather than hard values. hard value resistance is like 30 years old relic system.

that's one thing keep me away from enjoying ssf. it was ok in poe1 since so many options to craft. getting right your resistances in poe2 ssf is pain in the ass.
Yeah, I'd like to see a bit of a rework to resistances. The mods take up suffix slots on your gear which makes it feel a bit limited for builds that need multiple specific mods. Especially, builds that need to stack skill levels (because their damage won't scale with equipped weapons) which makes it quite bad to balance defensive and offensive stats.
