High latency spikes in Path of Exile 2 - Need help
Hey
I’ve been experiencing random latency spikes while playing Path of Exile 2. My internet connection works fine in other games and applications, but for some reason, only this game shows these spikes. Here’s what I’ve already tried: Switching to the nearest server (Frankfurt) and others too. Restarting my router. Checking for background updates or downloads. Switching between Lockstep and Predictive networking modes. Does anyone have an idea what else I can do to fix this issue? Could it be server-related or something on my end? Thanks in advance for your help!" Last bumped on Jan 4, 2025, 4:58:24 PM

Got the same issue, usually its good enough if u swap servers, but today seems extra bad every single EU server is unplayable atm

Same here. Unplayable, unfortunately.
Hoping for some miracle or someone with the solution. |

Likewise; spikes on Texas, Canada East, and DC. Tried Frankfurt via a friend's instance and same issue. All other internet services are working fine with no latency issues. Tried flushing dns and swapping to Google's (8.8.8.8) from Cloudflare (1.1.1.1). On Comcast so it could be an issue with their T3 as well, but I did have similar issues last weekend that were fixed by simply swapping to Texas, so it might just be high load on some other server I'm connected to for PoE2 that isn't tied to the game instance.

Same problem in US west, this all started after the latest patch. before that I had 0 issues at all, and i ahve 1gig network speeds at home, it isn't me.

For me, it's the same; starting at 5:30 PM, it jumps from 15 ms to 200 ms.
I Play on PS5 Pro / 300 MB down 50 MB UP |

Struggling to fix this, though it seems to be a server issue.
Latency looks like a heart monitor, often down near 30 ms, with frequent spikes above 100 ms that causes micro-pausing stuttering. Sometimes its much larger and more frequent, the time of day doesn't seem to matter. |

UPDATE 20241219 - 1818 Eastern U.S. time
I relocated my router so I could hardwire my PC and after my initial testing, it seems it resolved my issue. Will update again if anything changes. I've seen a lot of people saying hardwiring did not fix it for them though, so good luck. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 100 mbps download 10 mbps upload I play a lot of games on this network and have never had this issue. Been playing POE2 since launch day and get random network latency spikes 100+ every few minutes or so that cause full game stuttering, audio and visuals, but usually only last a couple seconds so, while annoying, isn't show-stopping. Logged in today around 1400 Eastern U.S. time, connected to Washington, DC server (as always), and the latency spikes have been nonstop making the game unplayable. Happening in both town and maps. I've had my game paused and running in the background just watching the network bar jump around like crazy. Downloaded WinMTR and ran a traceroute to the connection server IP I got from my game client logs, 172.240.16.9 and here are the results. Does anyone know if the hop with 88% loss (lag-25-10.chcgilt87w-bcr00.netops.charter.com) would be causing this behavior? No dropped packets specifically for the game server... https://pastebin.com/3QdZCcqz |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | RT-AC3100-4E48 - 0 | 211 | 211 | 1 | 13 | 235 | 18 | | syn-142-254-212-229.inf.spectrum.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 12 | 399 | 1872 | 300 | | lag-62.clayny0602h.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 26 | 423 | 1899 | 328 | | lag-85.mcr11esyrnyaw.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 12 | 398 | 2174 | 294 | | lag-27.rcr01rochnyei.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 15 | 401 | 1878 | 303 | |lag-25-10.chcgildt87w-bcr00.netops.charter.com - 88 | 48 | 6 | 0 | 457 | 673 | 302 | | lag-401.pr2.chi10.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 28 | 418 | 1893 | 313 | | syn-024-030-201-038.inf.spectrum.com - 1 | 206 | 205 | 29 | 410 | 2271 | 313 | |be-3412-pe12.ashburn.va.ibone.comcast.net - 0 | 210 | 210 | 39 | 426 | 1933 | 330 | |serverscombv-ic-368439.ip.twelve99-cust.net - 0 | 210 | 210 | 38 | 426 | 2011 | 331 | | No response from host - 100 | 43 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 172.240.16.9 - 0 | 210 | 210 | 36 | 419 | 1918 | 329 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | |Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |-------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| |RT-AC3100-4E48 - 0 | 211 | 211 | 1 | 13 | 235 | 18 | |syn-142-254-212-229.inf.spectrum.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 12 | 399 | 1872 | 300 | |lag-62.clayny0602h.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 26 | 423 | 1899 | 328 | |lag-85.mcr11esyrnyaw.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 12 | 398 | 2174 | 294 | |lag-27.rcr01rochnyei.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 15 | 401 | 1878 | 303 | |lag-25-10.chcgildt87w-bcr00.netops.charter.com - 88 | 48 | 6 | 0 | 457 | 673 | 302 | |lag-401.pr2.chi10.netops.charter.com - 0 | 210 | 210 | 28 | 418 | 1893 | 313 | |syn-024-030-201-038.inf.spectrum.com - 1 | 206 | 205 | 29 | 410 | 2271 | 313 | |be-3412-pe12.ashburn.va.ibone.comcast.net - 0 | 210 | 210 | 39 | 426 | 1933 | 330 | |serverscombv-ic-368439.ip.twelve99-cust.net - 0 | 210 | 210 | 38 | 426 | 2011 | 331 | |No response from host - 100 | 43 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |72.240.16.9 - 0 | 210 | 210 | 36 | 419 | 1918 | 329 | |_________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Last edited by Jair_Bones#2434 on Dec 19, 2024, 6:19:11 PM

Same here. Network spikes (up to 2000 ms), while constant ping to google shows nothing. Switching servers do nothing most of the time. In the acts, if you create new instance 4-5 times, you can find one without spikes, which is the foremost indicator - its something in GGG. If you reopen portal several times, same happens, but you will loose all your map perks. 1/4 Of the day is unplayable currently.

Problem is big ! But GGG still silence pfff
