Potential fix for multithread crashing issues from 24H2 Win update
I do not see this update in the list.
I can see: AOC International (Europe) GmbH - Monitor - 8/26/2015 12:00:00 AM 1.0.0.0 Intel - Other hardware - Intel(R) E3 - 1200/1500 v5/6th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) PCIe Controller (x16) - 1901 and INTEL - System - 7/18/1968 AM - 10.1.14.7 Is there some reason for this? |

Quite frankly, this issue only happens in POE 1 and 2 for me. Not Star Citizen, not Escape from Tarkov, not Cyberpunk 2077, not Elden Ring, etc.
This has happened in POE before too. So I hope that GGG makes the game a bit more resilient. I know Microsoft isn't the best as testing their Windows updates when it comes to gaming either. But, this has been going on for a month and it should have been addressed. |

Thanks for the advice. I'm installing the optional updates (there's many more new ones that dropped today too). I have the same issues of my entire PC locking up during load screens and having to manually cycle power.
If the new optional updates still have issues then I'll probably increase CPU priority for the games and see if that helps. Turning off multi-threading is a last resort as I feel like you'll lose a bit of performance doing so. UPDATE: After installing all optional windows update the problems are way worse. PoE locks up my pc constantly requiring a hard reset. I will try disabling multi-threading but ggg really needs to address this rampant issue for windows users Last edited by utmastuh#5531 on Jan 15, 2025, 11:54:12 AM

I was suffering from the PoE2 bug that crashed my PC often when zoning. I saw the comments about how this is probably an AMD multithreading issue introduced with the Windows 24H2 update.
I can tell you what worked for me as a fix (so far): I installed the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for my ASUS TUF Gaming motherboard. I was about two years out-of-date on my BIOS, and I suspect many other folks don't keep up on theirs either. Anyway, I installed those about 12 hours ago. I haven't had a single crash in PoE2 since (whereas I was getting them at least once every 30-60 minutes before). I hope this helps! Update: Day 2 since I updated my BIOS and chipset drivers, and still not a single crash since I did so. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it certainly seems to have resolved my issue at this time. Last edited by Morvalion2023#5414 on Jan 20, 2025, 5:56:58 PM

Just my experience - I have made enough observations to see that enabling Multithreaded engine was freezing my system during loading screens. Not just crash, but a full swinged system freeze (!).
For the record, I already had the Preview update mentioned above, so that was not the saver for me. Do not have high hopes until GGG fixes the cause then :) |
