well, i thought the same thing was happening to me. Now that ive kept going I realize the mini map was showing him because he was lying there half dead by Una. Once i got the ring off the angry man whose family died he was revived and is now in town for me. I jumped the gun and assumed the quest was completed when I saved him from the tree. OOPS
