controller targeting feedback

I played over 1400 hours of POE1 on a controller and thought it was GREAT. I never felt any frustration about auto targeting. It simply wasn't ever an issue. If there was an enemy I pressed attack and it hit the enemy close to me. Simple.

In POE2 using a controller is a debuff where a lot of your projectiles go off in random directions even if there's an enemy right in front of you in a small arena and even if you already hit that enemy once or twice. Its almost guaranteed your second or third hit will go off in a completely different direction where there's no enemy.

Whatever you did in POE1 was better.

Also, I feel like skills like contagion, where you apply a debuff, then need to kill that one enemy for it to spread, the first attack after applying contagion should automatically hit that one target. Currently, the opposite is happening where I apply contagion, then the auto attack will target a different enemy every time. I watched this every time to see if it was random, but it wasn't. the first and even second attack after applying contagion will never hit the target with the contagion.
