PoE 2 is actively damaging PCs and GGG is on Holiday without fixing it - Loading Screen PC Freeze
" Does that mean that we can disabling multi-threading IG and have no issue at the cost of lowering game perf ? If so I buy it until it's fixed. Yesterday my bluetooth didn't work anymore after a crash and a hard reset. I uninstall all bluetooth drivers with no success but today it works by magic. I won't play unless I can fix the crashes on PC (it's ugly but at least I have no problem on SteamDeck so it's either multi-threading thing or SteamDeck) |

" Even better, I spent on ungodly amount of funds on my computer science degree, which helps me much more than PoE supporter packs to make such statements. Unless the game is running as high priority (can bet set via task manager), the game itself can't lock your computer. What can lock your computer is IO (network access, disk access) or drivers, because those have nearly unlimited access to your computer. So, the issue is most certainly with the GPU driver or some other 24H2 update. |

Simply disable engine multithreading before each loading screen and re-enable it afterward. This method solves the issue in 100% of cases. It’s not the most ideal solution, but it works. Since I started doing this, I haven’t experienced a single crash.

I still mostly think there is a problem with initial shader loading for the first time when you login and before you start to hear the town/area game sounds the CPU spike happens and engine almost freeze for 1 sec, here where most people freeze or carry on depends if it locks you or not
i remember John talking about the shader problem in the interview with Ziggy i really wish you guys come up with a better solution for shaders like others games usually build up all the cache at first launch before playing wish if it's possible for path of exile engine. my old post https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3543686/page/2#p25404054 Last edited by Ramymn#7254 on Dec 26, 2024, 8:50:25 AM

the game is unplayable for me at this stage, crashes every second or third map load. If I don't change affinity to uncheck 2 cores, it's a complete PC freeze. With affinity change, at least I can end the process and relaunch the game with my waystone lost... :(

Man the know-it-alls/google ninja's in these threads are getting tiring. Claiming to be qualified and knowledgeable yet lacking even basic skills like deductive reasoning.
There are literally hundred of pages of people with different machine specs, different drivers, different OS versions (some even on linux), all trying different fixes. The only variable that doesn't change is POE. POE is causing the PC to behave incorrectly. The same happened with the Assassins Creed games which Ubisoft patched and fixed. It might well be reacting to a new windows update or a change in some drivers, but that doesn't change the fact it is still POE putting people's PC into a state where they have to hard reset. My first crash, the pc froze completely and I could only solve it by force restarting. Regrettable, I'm over 80 hours into the game and some days I can't log in.

it's funny how "Vulkan" tooltip says is for more consistent performance especially in high cpu usage cases, and once I turn it on the CPU and GPU usage is twice as much as using D3D12....
