POE 2 Doesn't Have the Magic of POE 1, A Casual Player Perspective
" Am I out of my mind to suggest this game would be more fun if... 1.) Maps were simply smaller. (Expediting the 'fun' by ensuring less time is spent moving through an area, and more time is spent on the boss mechanics.) 2.) Dodge Roll now has phasing. Just simply add phasing to dodge roll, with the condition that it can not phase through boss mechanics. (Ice ring in Act 1*? would remain impassable even with phase) 3.) Screw crafting because they killed it; so add a vendor that allows you to place desired mods for gold cost. Get rid of transmutes and augments completely (I dare say in this current iteration they'd not be missed) - The only limits from this vendor added mods should be required level to wear the items. User would be able to add mods on a white basic gear up until it is a 6 mod rare (yellow). 4.) Boots should give movespeed based on item level as a hidden implicit. (5% MS for putting on boots with ilvl 10 or less. 10% MS ilvl 11-20, 15% ilvl 21-30 etc etc) Now all boots can be viable. 5.) Drop rate increased by no less than 50x current drop rate. 6.) Maps drop XP loss on death, or allow user to use multiple portals on death. One or other, but both would likely be too far. 7.) No more resistance drops when difficulty increases. (This seems especially heinous given the current state of the game wherein you can't get resist from tree, and must do all resist from gear. It's making it especially tedious and time consuming to grab resists/good gear. 8.) Respect the users time. 9.) No seriously; Respect the users time. 10.) No, No....SERIOUSLY. Respect the users time. We don't get that back, so many of us are choosing to simply not play. I’ve already uninstalled and won’t be returning. The amount of time they expect from users is excessive. The irony is, if they respected users' time and allowed for real progress to be made more quickly, more people would likely get hooked and sink countless hours into playing. Instead, by making it so tedious, they may get longer playtime from those who stick around, but the majority of users won’t stay. Last edited by RichardBachman#4230 on Dec 20, 2024, 12:27:09 PM

Well, I think you're missing the idea of the different proposals of this game.
Honestly I can't see how unplayable this game is, because I'm having more fun in PoE2 than I've had in a long time playing other ARPGs, seriously, I made a monk I reached the end game, I started making a witch now I'm getting there in act 3 without any problems and I decided to use really bad gear on her and it's incredible how you can get through the acts if you have fingers and a little of game vision. I still think that you are wanting to play PoE2 only with the vision of PoE1, wanting it to be PoE 1, although that is not the game's proposal. So much so that they continue and will continue to bring content to PoE1 for exactly this reason, because they are different proposals. So, honestly, there is no point in crying because you encounter difficulties where most cases are literally crying due to a skill issue. Is the game having a lot of problems? Yes, the witch's damage is weak yes, I think that fire skills need to be buffed, warrior needs to be better revised, some passives need to be worked on, but that's exactly the function of early access now, is to do with that the community creates different possibilities for using the game so that they can polish it in the best possible way. But most of the crying I read is almost like "I want to play poe2 like I play poe1" that won't happen, the proposals are different as I said before. |

" Yes, maps need to be fixed. " Dodge roll should be one of many movement gem options, this one having the benefit of iframes whereas the others dont. " Simply restore viability of the GENIUS crafting system in POE1 that had a mix of RNG and deterministic outcomes. " This I agree with and they should have done in POE1. Allow the implicits of boots to roll options but in reality everyone is going to go move speed. " I wouldnt put a number on it but the reality is without ALT orbs they could rain transmutes from the sky and that would accomplish nothing. " No, I think XP loss at high level on death is good. You need some motivation to not die. Bricking the map and the whole content path behind it should not happen. " No idea why you would suggest this. Its the only thing you stated that I really have trouble imagining how you came up with this. This is a HORRIBLE idea. |

" And at that point I stopped reading .. when you had to be condescending, arrogant and flippant. I personally have supported GGG finacially in a massive way that MOST of their player base would be unable to afford. I love GGG as a game company and I cannot see this game succeeding as a PRODUCT. The fact that you personally "are enjoying it" is irrelevant because you fail to address any of the points i brought up. You are just trying to snipe the post with your "skill issue" BS. Since you have no arguments ... at all ... your post has no value. |

To this day i struggle to understand why ppl call poe2 harder than poe1... its way easier. Like a ton. Its so straight forward and limited in your choices - its not hard, but boring.
As a new player in poe1 it was very likely to be NOT able to finish the campaign without the help of guides on your first build attempt. Imagine a new player playing poe1 ruthless ?! How can any1 say poe2 is harder... Its just tedious and annoying. POE1 got easy with KNOWLEDGE. And thats the key. You dont even need knowledge in poe2.. just take 1 of the 3 skill combinations a weapon offers - Pick a few defensive nodes on the side of your picked class and your good to go. You struggle the first 1 or 2 acts with the roll and finally every single boss feels almost the same.. Dodge, dodge, >insert 1 of 20 rotations< - repeat ... Tbh every fight feels like this... For bosses its just longer. Sometimes you need to learn the specific patterns, but it will be the same - dodge, dodge -> rotation - and this is for every single class with every single build.. AND IT TAKES AGES to get those fights done... i RLY dunno how you can call this a good design decision... After my first char (which was a grenade merc), i thought this was too easy and straight forward. i wanted to play something unique.. so i rerolled something "unique" - EVERY idea i had in mind to make it somewhat special, wouldnt work cause of stupid random limitations which are hidden everywhere in the game - In the end i ended up with the exact same build, ive later saw in a "buildguide" on youtube. For me that was the final nail tbh.. It just shows that you are so limited, that every1 is ending up with the same or atleast very similar solutions. Thats just not how poe should be... In poe1 a scenario like that would be nearly impossible. There are countless of other problems in this game, which are clearly design decisions and not because of the state of the game - but this is the biggest flaw imho. |
