GGG, gotta change that new 'one attempt per waystone'.
It feels weird they introduced the checkpoint system for Campaign and then for Maps it's just... gone. No checkpoints, 6 portals for lots of loot and potion refills which is excessive and almost feels mocking.
It also currently "feels" a lot worse because there's a lot of other issues with the game, stuff that's expected of EA and will get ironed out. I feel like adding 1-2 checkpoints per map and letting us have an additional "respawn" for each one we find would be a pretty acceptable middle ground of making it "harder" and having to "earn" progress, and not being totally locked out because you missclicked or you lagged. |

" What are you talking about? The title of the thread is: "GGG, gotta change that new 'one attempt per waystone'." This is regarding the fact that each waystone only offers 1 attempt or you lose the mechanics from that map. " If you do not die, you do not lose anything. How do you die? If you chose a difficulty that is too high. So yes, this is in fact regarding difficulty. And apparently people failing to choose the correct one for their build and current state of their character. Oh and btw. focusing more on balanced builds instead of glass cannon builds was one of the intends. So that is not an argument against this mechanic. It was one of the intentions of the mechanic. maps feel bad. I dont want to play them, but that's all there is to do post campaign. I guess i make new toons and play them instead.
[Removed by Support] Global 1 is cancer. By agreeing to these terms of use, you acknowledge that bugs are like cool and stuff and that you will bow to the Mealworm king when he ascends the throne. Last edited by CoryA_GGG#0000 on Dec 22, 2024, 8:06:21 AM

Why do we punish children? To get them to change their behavior.
So the devs apparently want players to stop trying challenging content? If you're not 100% sure you can clear a map, you shouldn't try it. That is BAD game design. Death is already a punishment. Adding more does not make the game more challenging, it just makes it a lot less fun. Making players stick to easy content makes the game boring. People don't want to play boring games, they want to feel challenged. They want to take chances. They want to feel like they overcame the odds when they win. As the game is now, you can't do that. |

Just tough it out. Once the "cHAlLEnGE!!" crowd crawls back to their habitat, they'll do what needs to be done.

+1 mapping feels terrible in this state

" This has nothing to do with being judgmental or elitism. My point is that players choose the difficulty they want to play. It is 100% their decision how hard of a map they open. Nothing else matters. Only the decision of the player. So why do people ask GGG to find a solution to the players bad decision making? Also, you hardly lose anything of you fail a map. You lose 1 waystone, the mechanics of the map is gone and you lose some XP. That's all. Nothing more. Maybe they should also drop players gold. You simply use a low level waystone and rush through the failed map to complete it and proceed. There are so many threads where people are whining, this is too hard, that needs to be changes, this is to punishing, ... If GGG would listen to all these threads the game would be the most boring game you have ever seen. Edit: In another thread they are even asking to remove the XP penalty. Exactly my point. People want to remove every single challenge and make the game as boring as possible. Maybe even give them cheat codes to just set the character to level 100 and cheat in every item ... At some point this nonsense needs to be stopped. Last edited by CoryA_GGG#0000 on Dec 22, 2024, 8:07:50 AM

" People feel like they are wasting their limited time when they lose a map, lose the trial, and once people reach level 75 they lose exp too. So I don't think it's good for the game, and I don't think 90%+ of players will play past 75. And its still very easy to get 1 shot with a tanky build. PoE2 I would argue is almost more fast paced / 1 shotty than PoE1 (In the end game). In PoE1 monsters health scales way more. My opinion is the campaign is more or less great, minus the punishing trials, but I don't like the end game, and so far I don't know anyone in my group who does. " I think the better way of saying this would be: People choose to waste their time by opening maps that are too hard for the current state of their character. After 3-4 attempts everybody should be able to tell if their character can do that level of content already or if they need to improve the character further before they can clear it. GGG already started addressing the one shots. And this is by far the better way. Keep the penalty, keep it challenging but remove the unfair elements. And that is exactly what is happening so far. |

" That's like saying they're going to make Mageblood drop constantly in poe1 once some group of people crawls back to their habitat. You know the difficulty of getting something gives it extra value, just as the difficulty of achieving something gives it extra value. |
