Charms feel useless
" Very much that. They have charges and they activate when the conditions are met... but there is no feedback as to when that is. You can't see if your charm has charges atm. without hovering, you don't see whether it has activated. I do expect that the feedback is being worked on during EA. Bird lover of Wraeclast

No, they very much are useless because they eat 40 out of 60 charges on use and take about 10 kills to restore one charge.

Considering a huge chunk of chase uniques are belts it's also a bit weird to base the charm slots on belt affixes.
So like what's the best choice, 2 charm slots, or headhunter? lmao. Which is going to get even worse when you guys inevitably bring in charm uniques. Honestly just bring back Utility flasks and give them innate conditionals. Charms suck so much. |

Charms are good the way they are. In PoE1, you could easily have them up all the time. Especially if you Mageblood belt or played Pathfinder. While I think it's okay if an ascendency is built around it and therefore has advantages over other ascendencies when it comes to flasks, it shouldn't be a "standard" that flasks are always up. But that's entirely my opinion. I compare it with potions in other games, like the flasks in Elden Ring. They are very limited and therefore they are an important asset and should only be used if absolutely necessary. And charms are exactly that. You should avoid freeze built up in the first place and a charm should protect you against big hits that one-shot-freeze you. If you see yourself getting frozen every 10 seconds, that means you don't dodge at all. Then ofc your charms are always empty.

For me, charms are very useful. They are saving me from death and even if they do it once per hour - totally worth it. For me, freeze is almost certain death, also lighting damage not always can be avoided and sometimes hits me hard, can one shot. With charm, I can keep my lighting resistance at 50% and charm will give temporary +25% if I get hit by lightning. If you got hit all the time - it's not much, but I rarely got hit by that so for me charm's occasional resistance window is more than enough.

Charms definitely work, but they need to be improved significantly to be actually helpful, especially for late game.
1. Belts must come with higher slot numbers depending on type that you automatically find when you get to cruel difficulty and endgame. Having them as affixes makes no sense at all, especially not since they're that rare. I haven't found even one belt with more than one slot in almost 120 hours. 2. They need a status display. How many charges, when they activate, etc. 3. They need to come in much higher charge levels, similar to the flasks. I don't get it that you can find flasks in 10 different sizes, but charms essentially remain at the same level as a puny "lesser mana flask". 4. It should be possible to make them rare (same as with flasks, btw.), simply because the number you can use is so limited and it's such an important defensive layer especially in late game. 5. They should be a lot more common to find. Flasks drop in spades so that you could open a brewery and not have to buy a single flask, but charms are way too rare. |

For everyone defending charms, please look at what you're saying again and try to make a defence for charms that isn't entirely about the freeze charm or gold charm. If literally every other charm is useless or near useless, do you not see this as an issue?

" Yes, most charms looks quite useless for me. Would be more interesting if those which are useless would be buffed significantly. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Dec 26, 2024, 5:27:56 AM

" They are "really" useless not just "feel" useless, if you constantly check your charm charges after you get frozen. In a lot of cases the charges are still full, which means it never activates, so there must be some bug on it. |

I'm still getting stunned and frozen with full charges on my charms, what is going on?
