Part of being good at this game is wrapping your head around the itemization mechanics including crafting and how to understand and manipulate gear affixes. That's just the kind of game it is. It's not "bad design" it's just designed in a way that you don't like or aren't good at understanding or both.

It's fine not to like it. I would argue that a large part of the appeal of the game is related to it though. At least it is for me.

I hate the argument of "how do we expect new players to deal with this?" because it's basically an appeal to some hypothetical group of shitty players so you can feel better about asking for an easier game.

I was once a new player and dealt with it just fine, in fact, I loved that it was a challenge for me to dive into and figure out. I'm sure lots of other "new players" love it too.

It's a game where you have to grind for gear.

The fun is to be found in the grind. If you don't like the grind, you're playing the wrong game.
