POE 1 Legue to short

Agreed with the OP. Long leagues/seasons/whatever are nice for players who don't treat the game like a job but still want to have some sense of "serious" endgame progression up to a point. That means one week you might play the game 10 hours and another you will play it one or zero, but you still have goals, want to try various builds, and progress each build to a certain point or type of content.

Unfortunately, POE development for years has focused on the "I'm addicted to the game and stream 26 hours a day" type who are clearing ubers on day 2, and the following/community around each streamer develops the same mentality, such that if said streamer gets bored then the follower concludes "well I guess this game sucks now lol".

Personal take: streamers who treat it like a job (ie. a serious source of income and/or "influence") are the worse thing to ever happen to PC gaming development. This includes all of the bigger well-known names in POE streaming.

You know, we have that swimming contest each summer.

There all kinds of people that join, from professional swimmers and people who actively train, to 80 years old and disabled people.

You do not have all the day to finish it. A certain time, after the first swimmers finish, the race ends, and then boats start to fish people out of the water.

For me the logic behind not watching those people struggle (or drown) for hours is more than clear. What do you think?

when i put this streamers and youtubers in real endgame ... they say wtf ?
ubers are a joke comparing to this maps

so my gues is real money trading , hype up the legue , prebuy items and than post a build... and sell cuurency for $$ , so proly a whole team behind each of them ...

and who ever wants to put his build to a test , ill be still happy to open free maps , and a reward if u can do it !!!

I view it simpler. Converting your playing of a game into a job corrupts everything because everything is then motivated by profit because said job is then most/all of your livelihood/income.

For example, an honest opinion from a POE "content creator" about a patch or build or boss or whatever turns into an automatic sucking up mentality of "everything is fine guys, this is fine, you don't know how good you have it, now do X, Y, Z and GIT GUD SON".

Zizaran is the biggest offender here because he is by far the biggest name in the POE space.

POE1 melee was a joke for years ? streamers barely spoke up. POE1 performance has been getting progressively worse for years on identical or IMPROVED hardware specs? crickets from streamers. The game has zero visual clarity and deaths are 99% inexplicable indecipherable garbage? Not a word. The list goes on.

Given the state of POE1 streaming going into POE2, and the overall insane corrupting (not helpful or positive) influence of streamers in overall modern videogame development, the current dumpster fire of POE2 is EXACTLY the result expected.

The saddest part is that so many other ARPG developers will now view POE2 as a GOOD THING for future ARPG development. Wrong, so very wrong. WASD is one of the worst things to happen to ARPGs.

PoE2 is a loooooooooong way off that.

Gotta say I think GGG agree with you though they are gonna keep coming up with excuses then just ditch it because they don't feel like it.

Also guys stop being rude AF about short leagues, leagues are short because its a monetisation model it isn't pandering to everyone with ADHD its a cyclical model which allowed GGG 4(3) solid earning releases a year and simultaneously allowed a month or two of downtime for the regular league players to get excited for the next ones.
