If you need to create a throwaway account for verification purposes, I recommend not using the email address you would want to use for any account, as it is not possible to associate the same email with multiple Path of Exile accounts. It's best to use a temporary email for this purpose, but create the account on the same computer you usually use to play Path of Exile and then log into the game world using the throwaway account using the game client.
If you do not have the stand-alone client installed you may create a new Steam account in order to launch the Steam client for Path of Exile as a new account that can be used as a throwaway account. If you do this, you'll want to completely close out of the Steam client after creating the account through the Steam client and then relaunch the Steam client and perform a full log in directly from client launch, then create the character and enter the game using it that way. Also assuming that you have not tried bumping your mail repeatedly because after these initial questions you are placed in a queue until the accounts team could work your ticket (and trying to bump your mail tends to remove it from any queue, updates it and places it back in the queue at the end of it.) Just as an update, they finally sorted this for me and I can play. In fact they replied to me four times today alone.
I'm still unhappy this took 43 days but I just wanted to give hope to everyone on the board still struggling. I really hope they learn from this going forward. It was an incredibly bad first impression. I have no idea why support emailed me as soon as I posted this. Seems like an incredible coincidence. |
