Yeah! Everytime they talk about the old crafting bench it sounds like they think it just let you build your own perfect item from scratch. Thats not true. It's never been true. You still need something good to start with.
In reality most people just used it to slap on one thing they really liked, or really needed onto an item.

Considering the changes to scouring and Chaos orbs, they could just put in that old crafting bench without much issue. And if they really needed to nerf the bench, just take out the meta crafting options.


The crafting bench was an almost perfect solution, it allowed you to get an affix you wanted but was slightly weaker than if you were to craft without it. It allowed beginner characters to add some stats. It also allows us poor folks to slap a last useful affix on a craft without having to spend divines on locks or yolo exalting.
We should be able to change with certainty one line of text , thats a 1/6 chance to get what we want why is that bad?
The game has vaal and chaos orbs. I don't think anything else needs to be written about their marriage to randomizing your chances for a good item. They clearly want streamer moments, and if you look at the video about the changes, they almost all have to do with endgame complaints from streamers and not issues with new players. Game is not for new players that want more control.
