Please improve spell/attack synergies
There is currently very little support in POE2 for active skill combos involving both attacks and spells. In POE1, the game's structures resulted in significant barriers in trying to mix spells and attacks in a build (outside of cast on crit ect...), but with the addition of easy weapon swaps, POE2 feels just a few synergistic skills away from interesting combos of directly cast spells and attacks.
For instance, Bonestorm applies a stacking debuff, which causes the next hit against the target to deal additional damage, but each hit consumes a single stack of the debuff, resulting in a mediocre bonus to damage unless a bunch of minions are chipping away at the stack. As such, there is basically no attack synergy for the ability, even though it specifically buffs attacks. If the player's melee attacks (but not minion's or party member's) could consume all currently active stacks, it could provide a significant burst of damage, potentially making dipping into melee to consume stacks a viable choice against bosses. It may be the case that the Templar will launch with a kit built for mixing spells and attacks, but at the moment there are not many productive avenues for doing so. It would be a shame for a game that has done so well improving the combat flow of melee neglect another potentially interesting source of combat depth. Last bumped on Jan 13, 2025, 5:29:24 PM
