GGG - TARGETING NEEDS MORE WORK ON CONTROLLER
Targeting is still messed up on controller. I still find my character derping out aiming at enemies rapidly left and right when being surrounded and I still cannot target enemies independently unless there are just 2 or 3 on screen at one time.
No matter what direction I move with left stick or what direction I try to aim with right stick, it just doesn't do what I want it to. Maybe it's my imagination, but it feels slightly better since the newest big patch, but it still has a ways to go. It's super frustrating, especially as a Mercenary character, switching between different ammos for different situations... please figure this out when yall can! I find trying to use offering skills super irritating, 50% of the time you press it and it is cast but effects/hits none of you skeletons..
Also essence drain and contagion combinations, ice wall vs melee enemies moving towards you and ranged totems being cast next to enemy. Last edited by PxstelStxrs7713#8942 on Jan 17, 2025, 9:28:38 PM

+++1 very disappointing how some skill are totally wasted on controller.
Frost walls and melee mobs is a great example. Walls casting on the back of the mob making it useless. And hold targeting area does not move properly with your character |
|
Detonating dead is also very complicated to use, the system does not use minions as bodies and always looks for bodies in the first place even if your right analog is being pressed in the direction in which you want to explode the game makes you change direction and look for a body ...

Had great Fun Yesterday... while 5Fps'ing through a Breach, (XBox Series X/Lokal Coop with my Lady) my Lightning Arrow Ranger was chased by a Bad*** 6Mod Mana Syphoner... i ran frm him... aiming at the Fucker, while runing for my Life... almost had him down... when my Power-Elen-Degenerate-Like Character decided, it was a good Idea to auto-target a peaceful little whithe Mob in the adjecent Direction... End of the Story? The Big Bad Dude got my Ass... I? I got an XP Penalty 👌 Looooooved every Moment lol |

I honestly think the best option would be to Rclick to 'lock' target for real. meaning you back up, you stay facing the mob, you strafe, your character turns as you do.
The reason is that when you are in kb/m and back up, your mouse acts as your aim, so you can strafe easily, you can back up and use powers no problem, no piano playing needed. On controller, when you back up your character will turn in the direction you are moving (losing target). It is very difficult to strafe and use skills while keeping your target the same. The game seems to default to choosing either the farthest away enemy or a random enemy, never the one I need. That River hag for example. I want to lock on to her and unload while strafing but my controller changes target all over the place. With kb/m, you keep the mouse on the River Hag and easily strafe, use skills and potions it is night and day better. Console loot filter for POE2 Please! Thank yall for the positive responses, I appreciate it! Hopefully GGG is aware of the shortcomings!
I agree, there are a lot of skills that you can't even use as intended because of these issues. Feels like I'm forced to use certain skills over others because of functionality and aiming not working together properly. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but another weird thing I've noticed is that when you use the right stick to strafe, you can only truly point in 4 directions (N, S, E and W). Wonder if this has anything at all to do with any issues? Probably not, but couldn't help but notice it anyways |

i'm playing a build that freezes enemies and the targeting always seems to change the target from the one I've just frozen to another mob. It's annoying because I do more damage to frozen mobs.
The targeting feels so random. I know I'm supposed to use the right stick to face a mob i'm trying to hit but it's not always possible. The targeting is so unreliable and inconsistent it can make the game feel very frustrating. |

" I wonder if your last point is related to GGG introducing WASD controls and implementing it in the controller somehow. |
