Im Out

I'm not here to complain or rain on anyone's parade so to speak .... I just don't find the game fun. Really the only part that is fun is the boss fights because of the challenge - and filling out the skill tree - at least for me.

I mean its like fight mobs ,,,, fight a boss .... upgrade ... fight different looking more powerful mobs and bosses and repeat over and over as you fill out your skill tree.

I came game into this game enthusiastically buying a $60 dollar starter pack but compared to Black Desert Online (where is there are so many different things to do you cant do them all) I find this game lacking.

Maybe it will change and evolve into something else and maybe I'll be back. But for now - Im out.

Good Luck.

Seems like a you-problem to me, ARPGs all always revolve around this gameplay loop in particular with some minor deviations. You kill monsters, you find items, you craft gear, you progress your character, go back to step 2, rinse and repeat. Your own fault for not doing a research on what an ARPG is before buying a 60$ pack for it.
It's an unfinished sequel to an action rpg where the idea is to keep grinding until you're bored.

Not sure what kind of other experiences you were expecting.

Yes that is true. action rpg games has always been about killing monsters and getting upgrades of sorts in order to progress liniar.

Trials are NOT that.

1. Puzzle solving is not in the core of action rpg games, but its core of a different game genre so the target audience don't want puzzles.
Traps fall under this reason too.

2. Perma death is an option some player like and that is why it's an option in many action rpg games. But Forced perma death is not good. Playing for 30 min and die only to be forced to attempt that lost 30 min again is not fun for the casual player who picked standard play mode. Perma death is soul crushing and its very bad to retain player attention. make it optional.

3. To hide absolute essential parts of the game such as the ascendancy tree behind a forced game function that is very different from the rest of the game is a bad idea to start with. Its similar to clickbait. You propose a product only to deliver something inferior. Bad karma.

I mean, if you want a wastly superior game that is already out and developed right now, play PoE1. All of the issues you listed are not present in it, and it's way more fun compared to PoE2. GGG advertised PoE2 as the hardmode PoE essentially, was kind of also your fault for not listening. That being said I understand the frustration as many other PoE fans here do, GGG's vision of a good ARPG is a polar opposite of what they have already done well with PoE1 in many ways.
I'm coming with you brother. You don't leave alone or for bad reason.

Or in POE1 for that matter :)

We're playing a currency simulator folks. If you want to get consistently rewarded with powerful usable items immediately off the ground, then go play D3 or D4.

An ARPG should never progress to a state where telling someone "ya filter out all wearable drops so you don't see them" is an honest good suggestion.
Take a break. Like a year or two.

Take care untill then.
