Gemling - Galvanic Shards + Plasma Blast (good clear, bosses - terrible)
Please help in my build - actually I'm generaly satisfied from clear on t15-16 but bosses encounters are terrible. I have: 3k HP, 20% armour, 73% Evade, 16% of damage taken from mana before life, 5% phys taken as random element, 80% elemental resistances - and for bosses is like nothing :(
Actually I die always from direct hit. Additionally playing against bosses is just nightmare for this character. Please help to change build to kill bosess at least 2x faster. I'm now trying Plasma Blast (charged before boss is awaken) and later Shockburst Rounds. Basically it is taking around 40-50% HP from boss at maximum (if there is no Energy Shield boss) - and rest of the fight is chaotic shooting from Galvanic Shards and if Shocked again try Shockburst rounds - but from some reason somethimes pulses looks like not hitting the boss. Is just terrible for bossing. I have like 10 divine budget, so I cant buy Astramentis or even this crazy Unique mana flask with instant mana recovery to get and use Mind over Mother (I tried MoM but it impossible to comfortably play without this flask). I dont have time to play more then 10-15 maps a day. I'm aware my Crossbow is nothing special - but it has nice Attack speed and good survivalibility - life leech 6% and 84 life on kill - hard to get better DPS crossbow with such thing. For Plasma Blast I use swap weapon with 33% better hit damage. https://poe2.ninja/pob/203 (there are not included additional useless gems used only for increasing resistance due to ascedancy point - my resistances are 80% so elemental Hit Pool is like 17k) I will apreciate any help. PS I hope than stopping Plasma Blast charging by any hit will be removed - it makes this skill almost unusable. Im running a similar build with a different tree and skill setup.
PoB2: https://pobb.in/jFrqeYc0quc8 Ignore the stats, I simply clicked the tree and didnt change anything. The idea is to stack as much atk speed as possible to overcome the reload and just keep blasting. For bosses Im using a bow weaponswap to fire a stormcaller arrow (800% more shock chance) linked to lightning exposure, strip away and something to increase shock duration, forgot the name. The only reason it exists it to shock reliably on demand and lower res as much as possible for as long as possible and then keep blasting with Shockburst. Because of the atk speed Im currently firing about 20 rounds per second, which means Fresh Clip is a premium support in this setup, granting 1% more dmg per round fired in the past 6 sec. Essentially Im walking into the arena and start firing Shockburst while the boss gets rdy to charge up Fresh Clip, then fire the Stormcaller Arrow as soon as the boss is rdy, then hit Emergency Reload for all the buffs linked to it and then take advantage of everything and blast away. Worked well for me, might be worth checking it out. |

Thank you for the whole idea and advice. I checked yesterday on 3 bosses and looks promising but not great (one of them 1-shot me during shockbursting, other one was melted in around 10 seconds, I can scale attack speed (annoiting amulet) to reach maybe 7 seconds). I'm entering with the Plasma Blast loaded with Scattershot + 100% Shock duration + Increased shock duration in tree and 50% shock on boss. Other minor issue is gem swapping to use Overwhelming Pressence to secure boss shocking - just worth to mention (im stacking Ele rese so taken Res from gems in ascedancy)
I think it needs more improvements. What about electroculting bosses? Will it work if I put electrocute support to Shockburst rounds? How long time boss can be electrocuted such way? Anybody has experience in this area? |

If the stats provided by your link are still up to date, Id argue your stats are just way too low.
Consider buying a Morior Invictus chest and def go for %attributes per socketed rune and then either life or mana or spirit, if you really need the spirit and cant fix it in any other way. Assuming you´d get a chest with 4 sockets and a 5% attribute roll per rune, thats 20% right there and thats huge. I paid like 90-100 ex for mine, so that shouldnt be a big deal. Also Im using Atziris Disdain helmet to gain 30% life as ES, which results in roughly 3.5k life and 2k ES (incl. other gear and scaling) or rather 4K ES with Grim Feast maxed out and thats usually enough to tank incoming hits - except bosses that is. Other than that Im running Clarity, Precision and Cannibalism in Grim Feast for more atk speed, mana sustain and instant life recovery on kill. The only other spirit gem Im using is HoT but thats it and Im only using 95 spirit total, so I dont need to waste an affix on that. Feels very smooth and comfy, would recommend. |

If your Shockburst rounds not pulsing while target has elemental ailment check your hit rating. Merc is only good at bossing if you have Decimating Strike and Pitiless. For gemling you should focus items like Invuctus and Hand of Wisdom gloves.
I m running same build with my Ranger thanks to Tailwind & Windetc (%30damage reduction for 1 hit) survival is good. Witchhunter is best for bossing raring if you are playing galva+burst build. or you better be build yourself as crit. If you re not going crit build you ll also need "magnitute of shock" stat in order to deal more damage with your burstrounds. And attack speed is kinda important which Merc is lacking atm. Armour eh? Also useless stat currently. |

Thank you for the advice - again.
I've made a lot of improvements - I was supprise I could buy not so bad Ingenuity belt for 7 div + 1 div for Morior plus maybe 200 exalts for others items exchange. Now gameplay is much better. Since phys max hit is like only 5k I will aim to get MoM after i gather currency for Melting Mealstorm mana flask. I will try to get reach 3000 mana somehow - pob shows +35% Max hit even with 2.5k mana pool. I know I can strugle with mana sustain because of MoM, I believe this unique flask will make me alive. Fortunately this flask is around 13 divs now sor soon I should be able to buy it. I cannot imagine how to get lots of Energy shield with decent recharge to be more tanky than with Mind over Mother even with 3k mana and this crazy mana flask. Below recent version of my build. https://poe2.ninja/pob/2b6 |

Awesome dude, keep going.
It takes a bit for this build to take off but when it does, it slaps. |

Update.I think title should be changed - is not that terrible now.
Yesterday I tried Stone Citadel (rare map without more life/resistances/aligment treshold) - Doryani in Robot phase was melted in around 10 seconds by Shockburst Rounds after triple Plasma Blast on start (1st phase was shorter ofc). Is it good or could be much better? I'm now 3600 HP, 300 ES, 75% evasion, 30% armour (i know most says is meaningles), 16% damage taken from mana before life + 5% phys taken as elemental, all elemental res 79-83%. I'm courius that any totem can be significant improvement in boss fight or its not worth bothering? I'm courius if its somehow possible to put on a swap weapon a Staff with Tempest Bell a to resonate damage - but it can be really tricky/hard to make it possible. Anyone had any experiecne in using Tempest Bell together with crossbow skills? How much more difficult is Arbiter of the Ash comparing to Citadel boss? This is last "normal" challenge for me (excluding + difficulties Pinnacles) losing fragments will be be painful since there are expensive for me. |

" GZ :) As far as more dmg goes: All those bosses can be 1shot by a number builds, assuming you have an infinite budget... So obviously dmg could a lot better, except most of us dont have an infinite amount of currency ;) Im using a Ripwire Ballista to grant me more atk speed via Font of Rage. Thats basically all it does and I rarely use it except in the very beginning of a bossfight for more burst dmg. " Arbiter can 1shot builds with about 20k ES. So your defenses wont matter. You´ll have to learn the fight, execute it flawlessly and that will cost you a good amount of attempts. Whether you prefer to go in blind and do it the hard way or watch a video first is up to you. In the end Arbiter is like any other hightier boss in PoE: Borderline impossible to beat if you dont know the mechanics, much much easier once you do know the mechanics. Best of luck |
