Numbers are absolutely plummeting

214k were playing on wednesday last week, now its 112k. thats 50% drop in one week!!! And I am not surprised at all.

That's fine if the remainder buys twice as much MTX or supporter packs or whatever. That's how this thing works right?

How much is an average POE streamer worth in terms of the number of players they displace who don't want to treat the game like a job (and therefore quit)? 2 to 1? 10 to 1? Better open that wallet streamer boy/girl.
Fanboys will always find something positive but indeed the endgame is horrible in it's current state which reflects in the player retention. Just not enough depth to keep playing. In the meantime a full radio silence from the developers who probably are still on holiday.

Also they easily lost 100k+ players when they started bricking entire builds mid early access without free respecs to compensate.

They also managed to kill build diversity, a cornerstone of POE1, by making magic find an almost mandatory stat on gear if you want to get decent loot.
I hope all the newcomers they're chasing at the expense of PoE1 don't come back.

Same. POE2 is a slap in the face to POE1 players.

And we could tolerate that if they at least kept their promise of parallel development of POE1 & POE2. But clearly they have no intent on keeping that promise.

I just saw a few hours ago they've indefinitely delayed 3.26 until "at least a few weeks" after POE2 0.2 release... yikes. We will be lucky if we get 3.26 by March. And honestly, I won't be surprised if eventually they announce they are abandoning POE1 altogether.

PoE2 EA is going to be dead once the tourists finish the campaign and move on to the next new game though.

it s in noone interest. we need to get past the phase were designers want us to play a certain way before they separate mods like ruthless/softcore.

and we need them to make money to continue poe1 at least.

100%.

I've been saying this since December. The tourists aren't going to come back season after season. Each successive wipe of POE2 will bring back fewer players than before. And if they continue to alienate their POE1 fanbase, POE2 could start seeing season peaks below 300k which would be an absolute disaster.

That's when we will actually get movement on POE1 vs POE2. I don't think they will give up on POE2, but they will realize that they just can't support the two games in parallel.

So eventually we they will discontinue POE1 altogether, and at that point they will be forced to start making POE2 more like POE1. This is all obvious and predictable, and yet somehow people don't see it coming. Including the GGG devs.

Yep in 10 years we will have poe 2 on level with poe 1 with the bonus of better graphics.
PoE2 ain't bad, it just needs the same near decade of content added to get to the same level.

Year 2032 gonna be the year of GOAT PoE2 - and the linux desktop.
