This is a mistake

I rarely post here (if ever) but given the recent announcement i just feel i have to say something in the hopes my voice togheter with others will convey just how big of a mistake GGG is making here.

Ive played the game on and off since the beta 2013'ish and my 5334 hours in the game while alot is modest compared to the real hardcore players and i dont think ive ever been this worried and annoyed with GGG before and im getting Blizzard flashbacks where a previosuly awesome studio turned into... well w/e Blizzard is today

POE 1 and its extremely loyal playerbase is what made GGG what it is today and i really do understand why you are currently pooling all your resources into POE 2 as it is the future of the studio. We all know POE 1 will end one day we just didnt expect this when promises where made that development of POE 1 would continue as normal and POE 2 wouldnt impact this.
Heck i wasnt even annoyed at all when it was evident that GGG had decided to infact let poe 2 impact poe 1 development to get its endgame into a reasonably launchable state.

But now is where you make the mistake. Now you are telling us that you havent even begun development of the next POE 1 league and wont untill after the 0.2.0 patch for POE 2 which means we are looking at a june/july launch date for 3.26.
Thats a year since we last got a league and this... honestly... is just so very bad.

The biggest part to POE 1 success is its consistent content releases and telling its playerbase that they have nothing new coming is going to burn a tremendous amount of good will which is notoriosuly hard to get in the first place.
To many games and studios have crash and burned because the developers burned the good will for X reason.

Its my sincere hopes that you will listen to the people who are really dissapointed (not including the doomers and trolls) in your decision to put POE 1 on hold.
People where expecting to wait a year for POE 2's 1.0 release and i think alot of us are expecting a announcement that well get delays untill 2026 which is perfectly fine for a game thats still in development and is looking promising.
We where however not expecting to wait for a full year for a POE 1 league.

I togheter with alot of other POE 1 fans really do hope you reconsider this decision

Sadge.
They knew how people would feel about this. They just don't care.
General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.
I am praying that this situation is a one and done thing because if it becomes a trend, me and everyone else who sees it will be examples of that loyalty who end up moving on.

I wonder if you realized your name may end up as a self-fulfilling prophecy when you made it :)

Who knows if this is a one off situation or a permanent trend. I'm honestly thinking it's the latter but I'm hoping I'm wrong.
Thanks for all the fish!

Well said. being dissapointed is a understatement lol
The harsh truth is something you said yourself OP; the biggest part of poe's success is consistent content. That's what they're working on, but for Poe2. In order to capture and grow poe2 they have to completely focus on it.

It makes near zero financial sense to focus on the older game with a smaller playerbase when you've got this new game that's already hugely successful in early access. Mtx is shared, so there's no real isolated revenue that poe1 can make that poe2 can't.

The fact is, ggg was bought. They answer to shareholders now, and they must show profit and growing profit every year. Just the numbers on poe2s EA that had a price tag eclipsed poe1s.

I suspect they'll try to do something in poe1 in-between now and whenever 3.26 launches, but it's very clearly all focus on poe2 for the next big update.

Not sure how true it is, but Palsteron claimed that they make a fairly huge amount on PoE league launches. PoE2 after the EA purchases won’t have new MTX sales until full launch. If they even spend a single day on MTX prior to fixing PoE2’s massive flaws it is a major red flag on the company direction. They will have to throw a league or 2 for PoE this year.

Oh 100% the bulk of profit is on league launch. Where we disagree is the notion that they won't have poe2 mtx until launch. I'm willing to bet they absolutely will have mtx supporter packs during EA, because they've said they want to have leagues in EA, and it just makes sense.

Players however seem to always forget the art team that makes mtx is separate, there's no "red flag" for producing the thing that makes you money, especially when it doesn't impact development.
