State of Early Access Update
“Fixing Crashes and Performance Issues
Crashes have been a major area of focus for the development team since launch. We have fixed hundreds of different crashes, but there are still more to find. On the server side of things, we have reduced the number of crashes significantly. They should be very rare now. The client side of things has been a lot harder to deal with. For the most part, crashes in gameplay code have been addressed, but there are some much harder engine crashes that we have yet to find. The worst of these is a full system freeze that has occurred since Windows 11’s 24H2 update. We still don’t know exactly what caused this problem, but we have deployed a workaround that seems to be preventing the freeze. We are working with Microsoft to find a better long term solution. The remaining crashes are happening inside the GPU driver, known as “Device removed” errors. We have added a command line switch “--ex-crash-report” which adds extra logging to help us debug this issue at the cost of a small amount of performance. (Once you have crashed a couple of times with this option enabled, you can disable it again, we will have enough reports). We are working with nVidia to try and come up with a fix for this issue. Switching to Vulkan seems to reduce the number of crashes significantly for some users, so we would suggest trying that if you are crashing often.” First of all, fixing a lot of game crashes is great! But the root cause is because the underlying optimization is very poor! As a game developer GGG, there will be a strange BUG that reduces the frame rate of the game because the chat channel has too many people chatting! And not everyone is using AMDR7 7800X3D and RTX4090 computers, why let players find various ways to optimize the game? And not something that GGG itself should have considered when designing the game? Game shadow lighting, monster corpses, skill effects, these can not be an optional item? Many players who love POE2, while playing the game, should not only pay attention to whether there will be monsters in the game to kill it, but also endure the game frame rate is too low because the game optimization is very poor, the motion shadow caused by the picture is extremely unclear, resulting in eye fatigue can not play for a long time! From POE to POE2 as a development company GGG, never got this aspect right! |

This smacks of the PoE1 pattern of "launch, put out fires, disappear, next launch". Why though, the game isn't even out yet? Fix release fix release fix release gogogo. WTF?

POE2, in it's early access, with merely a fraction of it's power, is miles beyond what POE1 was even halfway through it's current life.
The fundamentals of the game(i.e. the combat, animations, graphics, more meaningful combat, voice acting and story) is so much better than POE1, that when the game spools up, it's going to leave POE1 in the dust, merely a game to be enjoyed by nostalgia seekers and dopamine addicts. Cope my brother, but don't cope too hard |

They will when they do their big update and reset, when they said they'd make balance changes.
But don't expect it to be one shotting things, it's damage is decent as it stands. Those 1 shotters will be getting taken down a couple notches, and some underperformers being brought up a couple notches. |

Players who participate in Early Access (EA) games should have more tolerance than those who wait for the official release. By joining early, they gain access to unfinished content, often filled with bugs, balancing issues, and missing features. Unlike players who purchase a fully developed game at launch, EA participants are essentially testers, helping developers refine the experience. They should expect technical problems and evolving mechanics rather than a polished final product.
Moreover, EA players often provide valuable feedback that directly influences a game’s development. Their input helps developers fine-tune gameplay, fix critical issues, and shape the final version based on community suggestions. In contrast, players who wait for the official release expect a complete, stable product, free from major flaws. Complaining about incomplete content or minor bugs in an EA game ignores its very purpose—continuous improvement through player participation. Ultimately, choosing to enter Early Access means accepting the risks and responsibilities that come with it. Patience and understanding are essential, as development takes time. While criticism is important, EA players should approach the experience with the mindset of assisting in game development rather than expecting perfection from the start. |

" Apart from the graphics, POE2 is the same shit as POE1. |

Hopefully the device lost crash can be sorted soon it's multiple times per map with DX12 and still crashes 1-2 times a hour when running in Vulkan.
