Warning for Ultra widescreen Mod after I disabled it

The speedrunning community might accept it, but that doesn’t mean the developers will.

Also, if GGG doesn’t officially support widescreen, then it technically provides an unfair advantage in an official race setting.

I have received similar message today! I use the widescreen mod. Its actually so I dont create burn in! Crazy that modern game like this doesnt come with 32:9 ratio.

GGG please reconsider this decision!

I have removed the mod as of now.

They made this decision years ago on purpose for POE 1, and then made it in POE 2.

it's not an accident, they are literally married to telling widescreen players to fuck themselves. They consider it cheating if you can see things "off screen"

GGG considers wide screen itself the unfair advantage and have tried to get rid of it ye arts ago and brought that same energy to POE 2

They don't want you using widescreens, they literally call it cheating, they want your ass dying to shit off screen by design.
It's unbelievable on how many levels that logic doesn't make any sense.

The level of advantage from a broader FOV are miniscule.

Allowing players with ultra wide screens to have their resolution supported doesn't negatively affect any player without an ultra wide screen.

All it does is alienate players with Ultra Widescreens who OBVIOUSLY would like to utilize their screens for AESTHETIC reasons.

Higher FPS is a MUCH bigger advantage. According to the same logic it would make sense then to cap everyone at 60 FPS since keeping things fair seemingly matters more than visual appeal.

Complete 100% L take.
I am glad I saw this post. I was met with the same warning and got very anxious because I didn't know this ultrawide fix wasn't allowed. I never played POE and only started POE2 in January after I got my ultrawide monitor and thought it would be a great game to play on it. A bit disappointed, but I will play in windowed mode and just remove the fix.
All improvements in hardware come with advantages in video games. This has always been true and always been accepted.

Regardless if it's a bigger screen, a better internet connection, the ability to run the game with more Frames Per Second, a lower input latency from your mouse and keyboard.

It simply seems so random to decide on a specific piece of hardware and say that it is unfair when this is inherently true of all hardware.

I can only imagine that not changing such a weird policy will create an increasing backlash against GGG as this random piece of hardware becomes increasingly popular among players.

bro -- NO FIXES AT ALL ARE ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

GGG does not operate like a normal company, mods are 100% illegal, mods = permanent account closure and they tell you "too bad, buy new account shit, that ones gone, learn the lesson"

I'm, not kidding at all. All you new POE 2 players have no idea you aren't allowed to "mod" or "fix" anything.

If you ever see a MOD or FIX for POE 2 -- you're gonna get your account banned. GGG doesn't allow mods or fixes or ANYTHING of ANY TYPE.

Get ready to be shocked how wrong you imagined... They made this change about 3 years ago in POE 1, and have told every single person who had anything to say about it this simple message: Too bad.

The amount of MTX I have spent on this game (aka GGG) is, by my wife's account, unreasonable.

Sure, it's not a subscription based model (EvE Online has topped that for me), but jesus h. f-ing christ I've given GGG a significant amount of my disposable cash to GGG for the sake of PoE and it's "successor".

Yes, I have huge monitor, yes, I can afford to spend stupid amounts on the latest and greatest hardware, but it's absolute bullshit in 2025 ... 2025 ... I said 2025 - that we are in a situation where a game can "keep up" with GFX card improvements and completely ignore improvements in Monitors.

I get it, GGG have to deal with "many" resolutions, console scrubs on shitty TV resolutions and those that can't afford upgrades to anything above 1080p. I refuse to believe this is just lazy development - I have the years/hours/cash to prove it....

I'm now in a situation where I'm now a cheater and on the potential ban list for using a DLL to unfuck the GGG resolution issue.

As a s/w dev this is so easily fixable on the GGG side, they choose not to and are going to hide behind T's and C's and ban people like me (that have significant disposable funds to support them) who will probably never play anything "competitive" (which is such a joke for PoE) or gain an advantage.

Ban me, fuck it
"A beautiful murder!"
Yet another reason why I'm done with GGG. [Removed by Support]

Can someone from GGG explain to me this. If my Ultra wide monitor is an unfair advantage is someone who got a RTX 5090 an unfair advantage too ? They can run the game at way higher FPS and see things way quicker than I do ? Why are they not on the ban list ? what is this nonsense discrimination for people using wide monitor ? I think you need to speak to LE devs as it seems in this aspect they are way ahead of you... I just want my 32:9 support
